Chapter 18: Eira's Defeat

As they reached out to touch the sword, a voice boomed from above, echoing off the trees. "Who dares to disturb the rest of the Celestial Blade?"

The group froze, looking around in awe. A figure descended from the sky, its wings beating powerful and slow. It was an angel, its face stern and unyielding.

The angel's gaze narrowed, its voice stern. "You think you are worthy to wield the Celestial Blade? I think not."

Zephyr's eyes flashed with determination. "We're willing to try."

The angel's expression turned skeptical. "Very well, mortals. But first, you must prove your worthiness. I shall present you with a riddle. If you answer correctly, the sword will choose its wielder. But be warned, the wielder must then face me in one on one combat."

Liu's eyes gleamed with excitement. "We're ready!"

The angel's voice boomed again. "What can be broken, but never held? What can be given, but never sold?"

The group looked at each other, thinking deeply. Suddenly, Kai's face lit up. "The answer is a promise!"

The angel's expression turned impressed. "Very good, mortal. But remember, the sword will choose its wielder, and that person must face me in combat."

The group nodded, and the angel gestured to the sword. As they reached out to touch it, the sword began to glow. Suddenly, it shot out of its pedestal, hovering in the air.

The angel's voice boomed again. "The sword has chosen its wielder. Kai, you are the chosen one."

Kai's eyes widened in surprise. "Me?"

The angel nodded. "Yes, you. Now, come and face me in combat. If you emerge victorious, the sword is yours."

Kai's eyes shone with determination. "I'm ready."

The angel leaned forward, its voice barely above a whisper. "He is...not human. And his powers...they are beyond anything you can imagine."

Eira burst into the scene, her Avatars of Light at her side. Her eyes blazed with anger and betrayal as she faced off against Liu and his team.

"Zephyr, Lyra, you betrayed me," she spat, her voice venomous. "You think you can deceive me and get away with it? You will pay with your lives!"

Zephyr and Lyra exchanged a nervous glance, their eyes wide with fear. "Eira, what are you talking about?" Zephyr asked, his voice shaking.

Eira's gaze narrowed, her expression twisted in rage. "Don't play dumb, Zephyr. I know all about your little scheme. You and Lyra think you can steal the Celestial Blade and use it against me? I won't let that happen!"

Lyra took a step back, her eyes wide with fear. "Eira, please listen to us..."

But Eira was unforgiving. "You will pay for your betrayal," she snarled, her Avatars of Light charging towards Zephyr and Lyra.

The scene erupted into chaos as the two groups clashed in a frenzy of light and steel. Liu and Kai leapt into the fray, their swords flashing in the dim light.

As the battle raged on, Liu and Kai were holding their own against Eira and her Avatars of Light. Despite being outnumbered, they were fighting valiantly, their skills and strength honed to perfection.

Liu, in particular, was a force to be reckoned with. With a fierce cry, he punched one of the Avatars of Light with such force that it was thrown into the sun, its radiant form incinerated in an instant.

Eira's eyes widened in shock and horror as she watched her Avatar disappear into the sun's fiery depths. "No!" she screamed, her voice echoing across the battlefield. "How did you...?"

Kai took advantage of Eira's momentary distraction to strike another Avatar down, his sword slicing through its light-based form like a hot knife through butter.

The remaining Avatars of Light faltered, their connection to Eira wavering. Liu and Kai pressed their advantage, their attacks growing more fierce and intense.

Eira snarled, her eyes blazing with fury. "You may have bested my Avatars," she spat, "but you will never defeat me!"

With a wave of her hand, she summoned a blast of energy that sent Liu and Kai flying across the battlefield. The two warriors struggled to get back to their feet, their bodies battered and bruised.

But they refused to give up. With a fierce cry, they launched themselves at Eira, determined to put an end to her evil plans once and for all.

Liu and Kai charged towards Eira, their weapons glowing with qi, Eira's eyes widened in shock. She had never seen anyone move so fast before, and she was caught off guard.

Before she could even react, Liu and Kai were upon her, their weapons flashing in the light. Eira tried to defend herself, but it was too late. With a swift and deadly motion, Liu and Kai struck simultaneously, their weapons decapitating Eira in a single, brutal blow.

Eira's head flew off her shoulders, her body crumpling to the ground as her life force faded away. Liu and Kai stood panting, their weapons still trembling with the force of their blow.

They looked at each other, a nod of respect passing between them. They had worked together seamlessly, their movements perfectly coordinated.

"It's over," Liu said, his voice firm.
