3. Suprises

Feeling the cold hard floor, I slowly awaken. I think someone is slowly shaking me.

Opening my eyes, the sound seems to have returned as I hear them shouting.

"Silas, Silas, wake up!"

Looking forward, I see my mom, dad, and brother looking at me, worried.

I looked around and noticed the array circle was gone.

"AUGHH"

I grab my head in pain as the memories from last night flood into my head. Everyone looks at me, worried.

After a minute, I finally calmed down. My face was now filled with dread.

"What have I done?"

I looked at my hands which were now shaking. I look up to see my parents still looking worried about me.

"What's happening? Why are you guys in a panic."

I knew something terrible had happened due to the notifications of the system, but I didn't know what had happened yet.

"Come down, and you will see."

My mom helped me up before we all go downstairs. On the TV stood a pretty reporter in distress.

"According to reports, a mysterious woman's voice from the sky has claimed something ridiculous. Our world is evolving. Almost everyone could hear it, and reports from satélites show something unexpected. In the Pacific, a large continent has arisen from the waters. It is two times the size of Australia, and it's not just in the Pacific. Hundreds of small islands have cropped up all over the Earth's oceans. Just what is happening, and why or who caused this? Some people say it's from God; some say the government is doing this, but the real question is, what will happen next."

I looked in shock at my parents, who also had worried faces.

"Did you guys also hear the voice?"

They both nodded, and even my brother did.

"School is canceled, so you guys stay in your room. We will try to get more information and emergency stuff just in case."

I only nod with a pale face. I don't say anything as I hurriedly rush upstairs. Oh my gosh, what did I do?

Worst case scenario, monsters like in the other world appear. Best case scenario, nothing happens.

I look around to see what to do. I sadly don't have an appeasing stone to figure out my stats. Thankfully I remember what stuff I got yesterday when awakening.

I even saw multiple skills I never had in my other life. Appraisal. Appraisal is considered a legend within the different world, and even I had never seen anyone with it. But with this, I might be able to do something. I slowly chant the word in my mind. In front of me, a little window pops up.

<Book>

IT WORKS!! I go to a mirror in my room and activate appraise again.

<Name: Silas Freud

Species: Low Human>

It works, but it barely gives me any information. And what's up with this low human thing? I only remember seeing regular humans in the other world.

Now that I know it works, it's time to start grinding!

The way to upgrade things is to use them multiple times. So I slowly go through every item in my room, appraising it. When I was in the middle of it, I heard a knock.

Since both my parents have left, there is the only person who would knock. I tell him he could come in, and I see my brother slowly walking in.

He has a scared look on his face. "Um, can I stay here till mom and dad come back?" I could tell he was afraid, so I allowed him in.

I get curious, so I check his stats.

<Name: Drake Freud

Species: Low Human>

I sigh with relief as I see he isn't some weird race. I ignore him as I slowly look around and pull stuff out to appraise.

My brother looks confused at what I'm doing, but I ignore him. Finally, after I had almost finished my room, I heard the dull woman's voice again.

<Your skill Appraise has leveled up to Lvl. 2>

I was ecstatic when I heard this. I quickly head over to my mirror.

<Name: Silas Freud

Species: Low Human

Level: Lvl. 1>

Although it's not much of a boost, I still take the level up.

From all the games I played, I know how good of a skill this could be. Especially since the only way to appraise something is with an appraisal stone.

Which, of course, does not exist in this world. I tell my brother that I am going into the next room. He only nods as he follows. I don't mind.

This is probably pretty scary for him, anyway. I sweep through his room quickly, but I don't get a level up. I move into my parent's room.

After only a quarter of a way through, do I level up.

<Your skill Apprasel has leveled up to Lvl. 3>

I look over to the mirror and check my stats.

<Name: Silas Freud

Species: Low Human

Level: 1

Job: None>

I nod at my results. I look over to Drake to check his.

<Name: Drake Freud (Unawakened)

Species: Low Human

Level: 1

Job: None>

I'm a little shocked at the words beside his name. Unawakened.

That's weird. In the other world, everyone born is awakened. I only had to do the special array because I was from another world.

It makes sense because he wasn't born in this new world. Would babies born right now have a system? How would he unlock his? I've already assumed that the system has something to do with all of the crazy phenomena happening worldwide.

I try not to think about it as it's starting to hurt my head. Well, whatever. The thing I can do right now is trying to level this Appraisal skill up.

I go through the entire house without it leveling up again. What the hell unbalanced is this!? It upgraded somewhat quickly before, but now I can't upgrade it! I sigh as I head back into my room.

Drake had asked what I was doing, and all I could say was that I was trying to find something. He didn't believe me, but I didn't care. Assuming this is the same system as the other world, I can do a couple of things without appraisal or an appraisal stone.

First, if I do something enough times, it can turn into a skill. If I swing a sword multiple times, I can get the (Beginner Swordplay) skill.

And I can do that with so many different things.

So what I can do now is try to get as many skills as I can. I go outside and pick up two tree sticks around our house.

I throw one at my brother. "Here, take this and copy exactly what I'm doing." I take a battle stance and stab out with my stick like a spear. I'm not going to go for sword skill.

First, I only used the sword skill example because that's probably what is most familiar to you. Second, I used a Halberd when I was a hero. Pretty cool, right?

So to get to the Halberd skills, I have to learn the basics of (Stab) and (Slash). Of course, I already know how to do this, so this will be much easier.

On the other hand, my brother is a little clumsy with it, but he's copying me pretty well.

I don't know what dangers will come in the future, but it's best to be as prepared as possible.

If my brother can learn skills as an unawakened, that would be amazing. So, I slashed and stabbed over and over again.
