The streets of Hengdian were packed.
People would act out of expectation from time to time.
And An Xiao was no different as she left the building.
As soon as she was out of the office, she stomped the floor out of frustration.
The sun was still high above in the sky.
And she was angry.
Angry at how she was being ordered around by a nobody.
She could not accept that.
Yet, she still had to face reality.
It wasn't that she had decided to trust Lu Yuan, who was nothing more than a stranger to her. Instead, she trusted Wang Jinxue.
She knew that, at the very least, Wang Jinxue would not lie to her.
An Xiao also knew that the Für Elise was something else.
She started to realize that life was always a gamble. If she made the right bet, her life would be successful.
Providing some help wasn't much as long as she could get what she wanted.
…
"Do you have a pen and paper?"
"Why?"
"To write lyrics."
"You're that confident that you can make one right away?"
"Yes."
"Don't you need time to… you know… come up with ideas?"
"A super-talented genius needs nothing like that."
"Funny."
Lu Yuan was acting arrogantly, but it was that arrogance that managed to pressure Wang Jinxue.
No one in the history of humans had ever called themselves a super-talented genius.
In Wang Jinxue's mind, Lu Yuan was just boasting.
That was why she could only laugh at Lu Yuan.
Yet, in the end, Wang Jinxue went back to her Lamborghini to grab a fountain pen and a notebook.
Lu Yuan could smell the fragrance of orchids coming from the notebook.
When he took it, he even ran his fingers on the cover of the notebook.
What a great quality.
"Don't write on it if you're just going to make a draft."
"I'm not doing that."
"Wait, you're going to produce the completed lyrics on the spot?"
"Yes."
"Are you sure?"
"A super-talented genius needs no draft. I'll have a few typos at most," Lu Yuan smiled as his arrogant look never went away.
"What An Xiao needs is a great song! This is not a joke!" Wang Jinxue scolded in disappointment.
That was what she felt towards Lu Yuan.
Disappointment.
Writing good lyrics was never an easy process.
It could even be a long one.
And a lot of ideas were necessary just to produce one.
Wang Jinxue had met a lot of talented lyricists in her life, yet none of them could produce good lyrics without preparation and weeks of thinking.
The thing that made a good lyricist was the experience they had accumulated over their careers.
"Do I look like I'm joking?"
"We'll see," Wang Jinxue snorted as she crossed her arms.
"Just you wait."
Lu Yuan lifted the fountain pen and began to write on the first page.
Wang Jinxue then lowered her head to stare at Lu Yuan's hand.
Lu Yuan's hand was flying over the page. In Wang Jinxue's eyes, Lu Yuan seemed more like he was copywriting a lyric instead of making one.
What a messy handwriting.
Wang Jinxue had to spend quite some time just to make out what Lu Yuan had written.
Is this the handwriting of a super-talented genius?
Wang Jinxue couldn't help but laugh in her head as her expression became even colder.
No more than four minutes had passed, and Lu Yuan let out a sigh of relief as he shook his tired hand.
It has been quite a while since Lu Yuan actually wrote with a pen, and it was a burden on his wrist.
"You're done?"
"Yup."
"Isn't that too fast?"
The disappointment in Wang Jinxue had disappeared almost immediately.
Four minutes! Only four minutes have passed since he lifted the pen!
Wang Jinxue could already tell that the lyrics would be bad.
Instead of disappointment, frustration filled Wang Jinxue as she thought Lu Yuan was just toying with her.
"Just take a look at it yourself," Lu Yuan said as he handed Wang Jinxue the notebook.
Instead of an arrogant look, his expression was a humble one.
Lu Yuan kept telling himself to keep a low profile.
Wang Jinxue took the notebook. At first, she only planned to take a quick glance, but her eyes were glued onto the notebook seconds later.
Wang Jinxue then raised her head and looked at Lu Yuan in awe. "Did you really just write this?"
"Weren't you here with me all the time? I wrote it from start to finish," Lu Yuan said as he turned to look outside the window as if his life was filled with harshness.
He remained quiet as he told himself to not boast anymore than he needed.
All he needed to do was wait.
He just has to wait for applause and cheers.
"Five typos in one song. And what's with your handwriting? Are you still a kid?" Wang Jinxue scolded.
"???"
That wasn't the reaction Lu Yuan was expecting.
"The lyrics aren't that bad, but a good song needs a good composition too," Wang Jinxue said.
Lu Yuan looked at Wang Jinxue and realized she was just keeping her poker face.
Even though Wang Jinxue acted as if she didn't care, her hands were gripping the notebook tightly.
It was as if she had just found a treasure.
A smile appeared on Lu Yuan's face.
Even if Wang Jinxue was acting as if the lyrics weren't good, her body was telling the truth.
It was then that the door opened.
"Your order is here!"
An Xiao announced as she came in with three servings of food and a pack of Red Orchids.
She walked in and threw the stuff onto the table in front of Lu Yuan.
"Did you, by any chance, spit in my food?" Lu Yuan asked.
"I dare you to say that again!" An Xiao scolded.
"I was just joking!" Lu Yuan laughed.
"Do I look like a person who would do that? I've done what you asked. Can you now please start with the lyrics?"
"It's done," Lu Yuan said as he started to eat his food.
"What?"
"I said, it's done."
"It's done? Where?"
"In Wang Jinxue's hands."
"Really?"
An Xiao turned to look at Wang Jinxue, and Wang Jinxue nodded.
An Xiao was stunned when she saw the look on Wang Jinxue's face. It was as if Wang Jinxue was acknowledging the lyrics that Lu Yuan had just written.
"Jinxue, can I have a look?"
"Here."
As soon as An Xiao took a glance at the lyrics, her eyes widened as she turned to look at Lu Yuan as if he was a demon.
Her heart was racing.
An Xiao was a singer.
A professional singer.
She could tell whether the lyrics were good or bad.
The success of a song largely depended not only on the composition but also on the lyrics.
"You… you… you wrote this? You?" An Xiao asked with her trembling voice. "In the span of me buying lunch?"
The only expression on An Xiao's face was amazement.
She stared at Lu Yuan as if he wasn't someone from her world.
"Yup," Lu Yuan nodded.
"You… but…, you…" An Xiao could not stop her stuttering.
"If you give me a guitar now, I can give you the whole world," Lu Yuan said as he took a bite of the drumstick.
"Wait… Don't… don't eat that…"
"What?"
"The drumstick… It doesn't taste good…
"Huh?"
"Just… don't eat it."
"Why? It's really good," Lu Yuan said as he took another bite.
But he bit the wrong part, and his teeth hit the bone.
Lu Yuan spat the chicken out and covered his mouth with his hand in pain.
"I… I dropped that drumstick just now… I thought it would be a waste… and I picked it back up…" An Xiao muttered.
"…"
Lu Yuan stared at An Xiao, his face making an interesting expression.
