Silvia was also very selfish and annoying, but strangely Lady Kate loved her. George did not know what was special about her that made his mother would do anything for Silvia, including tried to separate himself from his wife.
George also knew well about his mother's character. She would not stop looking for ways until he and Alesha separated.
