Pride Of a Hunter

The game had begun. Now the statues were chasing after all the remaining hunters.

Thump… thump… thump…

The statues were running.

"Kkkeeeyyyaaahhhhh" Ji-hyun screams.

Smash…

The statue smashed the crystal on the staff onto the ground where Ji-Hyun was.

Grab…

Before the crystal could crush Ji-hyun, a hand of someone grabs her by the arm and with a lot of power pulls her away on time.

It was Seonhwan, who somehow escaped from the other statue and came for Ji-Hyun rescue.

Pant… pant… pant…

Both of them were taking heavy breaths out of fear and tiredness. But there was no time to take a break.

The statues were still on the move.

Thump… thump…

The chamber had become smaller for the hunters to run away from the giant statues.

They could get crushed by the sword or staff or maybe by the foot of any statue.

All five of them continued to run.

Then a miracle happened for soo-min, as she got a chance to reach at one of the cubes.

It was a perfect chance, "the cube, I need to reach there if I failed I will die"

"No, no I don't want to think about death I will live"

Soo-min said in a very cryful voice, she was very close then a hand grabbed her from behind.

It was Ji-Hyun's hands, who had grabbed soo-min back the arm.

"Get out of my way you wich"

Saying this Ji-Hyun pushes her back as soo-min falls back on the ground.

Thud…

Eik!!!

Now, Ji-Hyun was next to the cube. She successfully obtained the crystal which was on the cube.

She joyfully said, although her face had a creepy smile. "Finally, I got it. I will be able to back home safe and sound"

Soo-min was on the ground feeling miserable, and scared. Just stared at Ji-Hyun holding on to the crystal.

Soo-min then heard someone shouting her name, and she came back to her senses.

He turned around her head.

"Soo-min watch out!!" It was dong-woo who shouted her name. As he was running towards her while his hand was extended in her direction.

Huh?!... "Wha—"

Smash….

Splash…

Soo-min was crushed by the crystal of the staff. Her blood splashed on the ground.

Seonhwan with dong-woo and Ji-hoon were in shock seeing soo-min getting crushed.

[C rank hunter - soo-min is dead]

Looking at the system screen, Khan said in his mind.

What an interesting game, that woman just let her comrade die while she was trying to save her own life.

You can't blame her since this is after all a survival game.

The statue removed his staff away from the ground. There was a dent on the ground and at the centre of the dent was the crushed body of Soo-min.

Ji-Hyun was looking at her body, she was just giving her an awkward look with a mouth filled with a smile.

She was still sweating in fear. Seeing such a brutal death of Soo-min, Ji-Hyun realised if she didn't have pushed soo-min away it could have been her crushed on the ground and dead.

Now there were 3 hunters remaining, and there were 2 crystals on the cubes.

"Boys, position back" khan gave the command.

Hearing the command, the statues moved at the main position and stood there just like before.

Step… step… step…

All three of them came next to each other, they were showing their backs at each other and staring at the statues.

Ji-hoon said, "Seonhwan, Dong-woo, it seems the cause of these statues to go back is because that human-like monster knows only two can take those crystals and one will remain and die"

Dong-woo said, "then who is gonna take, I can't die here so let's say I take one than what about you two"

Seonhwan remained silent and only listened to their talk. Ji-hoon replied back with a calm voice.

"I understand that you want to live just like two of us, but that monster want us to fight each other and kill"

"I can see his intention clearly"

Breaking the silence, Seonhwan questioned. "Sir Ji-hoon, then do we have to fight each other"

The only option that was coming on to all three of them was to kill at least one of them so the other two could survive and escape.

Ji-hoon and dong-woo had one person set in their mind and it was Seonhwan who was the weakest anyways.

Seonhwan already understood who was in each other's minds. That they wanted to kill.

Sigh…

Ji-hoon took a sigh, as he moved away from the group. "I have no choice then"

He points his sword at khan. Ji-hoon said to the two, "I will take him on while you two can take those crystals and escape from this chamber"

Seonhwan was a bit confused, he was now wondering why would Ji-hoon let him escape who's the most useless in the group from the start.

While he was many times better than him and being a B+ ranker letting himself die for dong-woo and Seonhwan to escape.

Why? Just why?

Ji-hoon with a smile said, "I know what you're thinking. Your a young blood who still has a long life to live while I have lived my life well"

"Plus a hunter and a leader job is to protect his comrades, I failed to do that but atleast I want to save two or one even if I had to die"

"My pride as a hunter will fall if I escape this place while letting a young blood die for my own desire to live on"

"I don't want to regret…"

Tsk… "I'm sorry Ji-hoon forgive me" these were the words of dong-woo who was feeling sudden regret.

Step… step… step…

I wasn't expecting this… khan said in his mind.

Dong-woo walked close to the cube and picked up the crystal. Even when he was doing so he was still feeling some kind of regret. But he had no choice either.

I want to live too just like everyone else. I have people waiting for me too.

Ji-hoon smiles as he for one last time, closed his eyes.

So this is my end, well I'm somewhat old now. I wonder if I will meet my wife in the afterlife. Ha, Ha, Ha, will there be an afterlife?

While he was thinking all of this, a hand grabbed onto his shoulder.

Auah?!!...

He opened his eyes and looked back quickly. He was surprised when he saw Seonhwan standing behind him with a very determined and serious look.

"Seon why are you still here you–"

He shouted at Ji-hoon, "sir Ji-hoon please!!"

"I have a request for you"
