Chapter 77. Kurt, the Mage Turned Devil

"He has been transformed into a devil."

Behind him all the students were frightened listening to his words. It's not a demon, but devil.

The last time devil appeared was the time Earlshide Kingdom was almost destroyed. Because of the Sage and the Guru, it was defeated.

And now Arthur is saying that a devil appeared? It's too much to believe in one go.

Well, Arthur also didn't want to waste his time in explaining things. For now, he looked ahead at the battle commencing between the devil and magicians.

"You bastard! You bastard, you bastard, you bastard! You... bastard!"

The magic power flared explosively from Kurt, as the magic power slowly turned from normal to demonic. Just the pressure of magic power, crushed the ground beneath him. The eyes turned dark red, and the from his behaviour, it seems he totally turned into a devil, giving his rationality to his instincts and desire.

At this moment, the ones who didn't even saw a demon for their life realised what a demon looks like. And understood it's danger.

"Why? Why Shin-kun is fighting a devil?"

Cecily who looked at the devil, and asked Arthur who acted as the protector if the devil attacks at the rest.

"Why? Isn't it obvious? It's because aside from me and Violet, he is the only one who has the experience to fight against a demon."

Arthur turned his attention back to the fight. The devils he fought at the forest at that time during escort, all of them were physical fighters.

They were very physically strong due to demonization, but still with his magic he managed to kill them.

But this is the first time he actually saw a magician becoming a devil. The only case was the years ago one, which is from the tale of the Sage and Guru.

'That fire beam... It was strong. Not as my attack, but still it was quite strong. It shouldn't be possible by Kurt's normal magic power.'

The demonization really increased Kurt's magic prowess to a higher level, same as the official magicians.

It still won't hold a candle to him, Violet and Shin, but for the rest of them it is a death match.

Kurt with full rage started to rush towards Shin and Violet, and blasted a fire ball towards them. That fire attack was much bigger to name it as a small fire ball.

Boom!

Shin quickly dodged it manoeuvring his jet boots, while Violet quickly dodged it using thunder steps.

Shin quickly formed two magic circles on his hand with small blue fires like the ones from the practical class, and fired them towards the rushing Kurt.

Boom! Boom!

All of them blasted on Kurt damaging him quite badly making him fall on ground.

"Is the defense so weak?"

During killing the bandit devils, they weren't so easy to defeat with a small fire ball. Why did Kurt fall so easily then?

"Is it because he is a magician?"

Magician don't train their bodies. So, their bodies are quite weak. Kurt is the same. Demonization enhances both aspects of the body permanently. And Kurt has the magic prowess before becoming a devil, so the demonization enhanced it to higher rate, than his body enhancement.

While Bandits don't have any magic talent, so demonization enhanced their physical prowess.

"Damn you, Wolford!"

Shin seemed to be shocked to find the devil speaking to him. After all, a devil should lose all it's sense of reason. But Kurt can still talk.

"I will kill you! I will kill you, Wolford!"

Just like before, Kurt attacked Shin who blocked it, since he was able to conjure and visualize quickly.

Then he jumped up using his jet boots to come out of the cloud of dust and fired lightning strikes over Kurt making him groan in pain.

'It's really hurting him. Is Kurt hasn't demonization completely? Then I would be able to save him if I can expel the demonic mana from him!'

Shin was about to approach Kurt, but before he could someone was much faster than him.

"Violet!"

Violet with twin swords - Kanshou and Byakuya, sliced off the upcoming magic balls with a streak of lightning on her blades and then swiped it and in one go, she cutted of Kurt's hands.

"Gaah!! I will kill you! I will kill you!"

With no more method of attacking, the mana started to go berserk. Kurt compressed all the mana and was getting ready to expel it at once bursting the whole place into smithereens.

"This is bad."

Shin looked at Kurt with a very bad look. If Kurt expels that amount of magic power, it will blow up the surroundings.

"Violet! Kill him!"

Arthur ordered Violet who stood in front of Kurt with her twin swords.

"Yes."

"W-Wai--"

Before Shin could say anything, Violet just disappear leaving a trail of lightning. And appeared behind Kurt in a flash with an ear shattering sound of thunder reverberating in the air.

And the next moment, Kurt's head fell down which was sliced cleanly.

But the magic was still concentrated ready to burst.

Many magic barrier surrounded around Kurt's headless body, and joined together to form a capsule and trapped Kurt inside it.

Boom!

And the blast occured inside the barrier with no damage to outside, and finally he lifted off the barrier.

"Violet, good work."

"Yes, Arthur-sama."

Then he turned his eyes towards Shin who pupils seem to dilate a bit and his fists punching the ground with disbelief, as if he couldn't believe what happened a bit ago. Moreover, seeing the dead body, he couldn't understand anything anymore.

The weird phenomena of demonization, way different from his knowledge occured in from of him and he couldn't save a person from it.

Arthur could understand what Shin was feeling. The frustration a Hero feels when he is unable to save a person in front of him. But Shin's reaction was quite different from what he expected.

"Shin, do you have any problem with killing Kurt?"

His fist tightened, but he didn't deny him. Instead, he agreed with him.

"No. I hate to say it, but I know that there was no other choice."

Normally, a normal hero would blame Arthur and Violet for killing Kurt who could be saved. But that's the talk of a normal, too righteous hero. But it seems Shin is more than that.

'It seems he has matured a bit.'
