I'm Not Scared

Seeing Elaine's eyes that seemed to shine with optimistic light, Barry felt a little more excited than before. He had been certain, perhaps even convinced, that he stood alone in finding solace in such a dire situation, because he had a little idea of ​​what was happening. And maybe an apocalypse situation like this can free him from his miserable life.

He didn't expect to find someone else who looked happy with this situation. Moreover, the other person is someone who has quite good abilities.

Elaine has 30 Magic Power. With that she can use her skills longer than him. So, without question he must cooperate with her.

"You're right. We still have hope." Barry responded to Elaine's words with a slight smile.

But something was bothering Barry a little. Doesn't Elaine think about her classmates getting hurt or even dying before her eyes?

For him, he doesn't really have a good friend in particular. In fact, he was often bullied. So Barry didn't really care when he saw his classmate being eaten by zombies.

However, he knows that Elaine is a popular person so she should have lots of friends.

But Barry couldn't bring himself to say that. Because for now none of that is that important.

Elaine nodded seeing that Barry had the same train of thought as her.

"What should we do now?" Elaine asked.

Barry was silent for a few moments while thinking. The obvious thing they have to do now is look for shelter. However, he didn't know where they could find a safe place or how much damage had actually been done in this world.

Barry turned to Elaine. "Are you scared?"

Elaine frowned. "What do you mean?"

"We have to raise our level to become stronger. That way, our chances of survival will be greater."

Elaine stared at Barry for a few moments. Then, she swallowed hard after coming to realization. "What you mean is, we have to kill more zombies?"

Barry nodded slowly, confirming her question.

Suddenly Barry saw as if a new light had lit up in Elaine's eyes. He also saw that her body was shivering slightly.

"Sounds like a good idea," said Elaine.

Barry blinked a few times. He saw clearly that there was a kind of new excitement that rose within Elaine after finding out that she was going to kill zombies. It made him unable to help but feel that Elaine really liked this kind of violence.

But that was a good thing for Barry. This means he doesn't have to worry about his partner being scared throughout the trip or hesitated to kill zombies. Once again Barry find she is a good partner. 

"First, we have to find a weapon for you," Barry said.

"Why? I don't need a weapon with my power."

"You can't use your power continuously. Your Magic Power, the source you spend to use skills will quickly run out if you keep using it."

Elaine pouting, looks a little bit dejected by that fact. Barry can't help it but thinks that she looks kinda cute.

"Shit. You're right," Elaine said. "Where'd you get that dagger?"

"It's a drop from zombie I killed."

"You're very lucky. I didn't get any weapons."

'Yeah. You're right, I'm very lucky. I even met you.' Barry thought. "Come on, let's find a weapon for you. Before we find a weapon, try not to use your skills."

Turns out, it didn't take them long to find a weapon. In the back of the room was an abandoned baseball bat. Elaine immediately took it and tried to swing it.

"I'll use this," Elaine said.

Barry nodded. Somehow, that weapon does look suitable for her.

"So now, shall we start killing zombies?" Elaine asked with a glint of that weird excitement in her eyes.

Barry nodded. "Yes."

On the other side of the building, a male student wearing glasses wiped his face from the blood of a zombie he had just killed. The zombie was previously his friend but at a critical moment he immediately pushed his friend without hesitation to be bitten by a zombie then killed him afterward. 

Meanwhile, the student wearing glasses ran away and managed to grab a grass shears. As soon as his friend who had turned into a zombie chased him, he immediately killed him.

Luckily, the student wearing glasses has gained a skill after he killed his best friend. The skill that can ultimately save his life is Quick Step which can give him a boost of speed in his legs that is twice his original speed.

"Hah... Hah... Hah..."

The student panted while staring at his friend's corpse.

"Sorry. Dock, I had no other choice," the student, Ryan, said but there was no trace of guilt in his eyes. Instead he felt relieved because he had managed to survive for another moment.

He then stood up and looked around. Without wasting much time, he immediately looked for a place to hide.

'This world is fucking ruined. What should I do now?!'

Ryan began to realize how dire his current situation was. He saw for himself how his friends turned into wild zombies.

When he finally succeeds in killing one of the zombies he gets something inside his body and text appears in his vision. But, Ryan didn't understand all that.

He could only continue holed up in his hiding place under the table and wait for someone to come save him.

A few minutes passed and finally Barry had risen to Level 5 after killing lots of zombies with his Martial Arts passive skill. He also got some magic potions which he then shared with Elaine.

Elaine herself is still stuck at Level 3. Barry killed more zombies than her with his dagger while Elaine could only hit and paralyze them without killing them.

Eventually, Barry has to give the zombies the finishing blow to Elaine. 

Because of that he Leveled up a little faster than Elaine.

Barry uses the attribute points he obtains to increase his Strength and Magic Power. At first he thought it would be good if he increased his Luck, but he thought his Luck was good enough now. For now, Strength and Magic Power will be much more important.

"Just a little bit more," Elaine muttered next to him while panting.

"I think we should rest for a while," Barry said.

"No! Just a little bit more and I'll catch up with you on Level 5!" Elaine said that with such determination that made Barry frown.

'Why is she so excited?'

"Don't take my zombies from now on, you understand?" Elaine looked at him.

"Okay." Barry shrugged. Even so, he will still interfere if he sees something bad is going to happen to her. 

They continued hunting for several minutes until they finally arrived at the place where Ryan was. He who heard their voices came out of his hiding place.
