Chapter Two

The very second I closed my eyes they were forced open by a sudden overwhelming smell of strange kind of rotten eggs.

With my eyes now open I jerked up.

My eyes were seeing something that my brain was having a hard time comprehending.

I shut back my eyes and opened it. Shut and open again, shut tighter and open again but nothing changed.

I was truly not in the hospital.

I was in a very dirty room and for good reason my brain was ignoring the smell and focusing all resources on the crazy visual distortion happening before us.

"Oh good you are awake." Someone spoke.

That was the moment I realized I wasn't alone in the small room. There were twelve of us in that room. 11 adults and they seem to live here. Normally It wouldn't be possible that 11 full grown men were all staying in a room this small but somehow they seemed to make do.

They were all putting on dirty and crappier wears and gears on in a haste. Each man seem to be having a personal competition on trying to outcrap the last wear worn. It was like watching Mad Max: Fury Road char--yes! That's exactly it. Like Mad max characters...but less cool.

I felt someone give me a not so gentle kick to the leg on the sorry excuse of a low mattress I was seating on.

"Did you hear what I was saying?"

I furrowed my brows in confusion. "What?"

My voice sounded weird, and the bearded dude in the military camouflage somehow looked familiar, like someone I should have known but my brain already had too much going on that I felt more tasks would probably lead to me bleeding out from my eyes and nose.

"Man, what's wrong with you?" the bearded guy I should have known asked, his face showing loss of patience rather than concern.

"What?" my weird voice asked again.

"Fuck you then" he said, and stormed out of the room. The others were leaving too.

"Man, you are giving Anthony a good reason to fuck you up" a short blondie said. "Bring on your gear let's go!"

"What the fuck are you talking about?!" I asked his departing back but got no response. "And who the fuck is Anthony?"

He slammed the heavy metal at me, and I was left baffled in the now silence.

"What the fuck is going on?"

A sudden desperate need for the bathroom hit me and as I was getting up I noticed for the first time what is supposed to be my body.

It made me slumped back into the not so mattress and began scrambling away from an invisible enemy till I reached the wall. I was panting like crazy.

"This is a dream. This is a dream" I kept repeating to myself as I was staring at the adult arched leg.

At that moment the door opened again and I was relieved of not been alone at a moment like this.

"You just don't know when to quit, do you?" the new arrival said with a malign smile.

"Sir?"

Now it was the turn of the middle age man's face to contort in confusion.

"What are you playing at, Jude?"

"I don't know what you are--wait, you know my name?"

The man bowed his head into his palm, a show of controlled frustration.

He turned and went just outside the door.

"Patel! Hey, Patel!" he motioned for them to come.

He gave me a glance as he waited then back to the direction of the rushing footsteps.

"Go check what the fuck is wrong with him?" he said as the approaching steps finally stopped, just outside my view.

"Who?"

I recognized the voice.

"What do you mean who?" the man barked at Dr. Patel. "Who else?!"

Dr. Patel walked into view but it wasn't the Dr. Patel I knew. The breasts I so much loved were there. The ever smiling face were there. But this Dr. Patel was grey, and not so beautiful skin.

My brain couldn't take it anymore and for my safety I was forced out of action.
