Speech

Lex cursed as he shot a deadly glare at Denver, who just smiled in return.

He hadn't seen the result as he knew he'd pass anyway; if he had, he would have known that he had topped the exam.

Lex noticed that everyone was beginning to look around for him, so he composed himself and went towards the stage.

His face once again showed trained indifference as he walked steadily towards the stage. Various thoughts passed through his mind as he prepared for his speech.

Two girls wearing the Aethrian Academy girl's uniform stood at the corner of the crowd of students. One of them looked at Lex walking towards the stage with a proud smile on her face.

The other girl, a tall black-haired beauty with an expressionless face, also looked at Lex and asked, "He's your brother?"

"Hehe, handsome, right?" Elise giggled as she responded.

"He certainly is... " The tall girl said.

"Don't worry, Jane, I'll introduce you to him later," Elise said.

"I didn't mean it like that, you know."

Climbing up the stairs to the stage, Lex nodded at the student council members as a greeting and went towards the mic. 

The auditorium turned silent as they all looked at Lex, waiting for his speech. For him to come on the top, he should have been brilliant, and they looked forward to his speech.

Lex looked at the small audience in front of him and lightly smiled. He looked at Denver with a provocative gaze and then looked away.

Setting up the mix, he began his speech, "My fellow students, Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in our lives as we stand together at the threshold of Aethrian Academy...."

Denver almost split upon hearing the speech. He cursed inside his mind, 'Fucker really went full gpt mode, tsk I should have expected this from him.'

Others didn't notice it, as Lex had begun mixing his words in the speech to make it human, but Denver knew the truth. 

A proper speech from Lex? That's simply impossible. Lex was the guy who wrote his novel simply and dropped everything on his editors. A person who couldn't even write his novel properly would write a speech seriously? What a joke.

'You got me this time, bastard!' Denver thought as he looked at Lex.

Even Elise, who was standing at the back, was quietly giggling. She had also come to the same conclusion as Denver.

"...Let us seize the opportunities, overcome the obstacles, and together, let us script a story that will echo through the annals of Aethrian Academy for generations to come. Thank you." Lex finished his speech.

Everyone clapped loudly, and some even roared as they were motivated by the powerful speech. 

Lex faked a smile and walked down the stage. He was really speechless by the enthusiasm everyone was showing. Wasn't it just a normal speech? Why were you so riled up?

Lex walked towards his previous spot and received a lot of attention from everyone. He stood beside Denver. 

Gwendolyn approached the mic, "Ahem, you can go to your classes now."

'This academy is weird; well, who am I to judge it..' Lex thought as he silently slipped away from the hungry crowd of students. He knew he had attracted the attention of many, and he certainly didn't want to deal with them.

"Huh? Where did he go?"

"I don't know, he was just here.."

"Hey, I saw Denver with him, so maybe he knows; let's ask him."

Lex could hear the voices from the auditorium as he left the big building. 

Soon, he reached the building where the first-year classes would be held. He sighed and entered the three-story building. As he walked into the corridor, he heard some footsteps getting closer to him.

And from how quickly they were getting closer, it was clear that whoever was coming was running.

Lex smiled as he slowed down his pace and waited. 

"Hah, slow down!" Denver yelled as he ran towards him while panting. Lex continued his walk and asked, "What happened?"

"What happened!? You seriously asking that?" Denver came forward as he walked side by side with Lex and said. "Those hungry wolves were eyeing for you, and when they couldn't find you, they latched on my poor face."

"Yeah, yeah," Lex casually ignored him as he climbed up the stairs to get to the first floor. He already knew where to go, as it was already specified in the academy forum. 

As he was walking, suddenly, his body went on full alert as he spun and reached out his hand...and then did nothing.

"You have sharp instincts," Jane said as she looked in the eyes of Lex. 

"Aiyo, don't scare my friend, brother," Elise said as she poked Lex's cheeks. 

Lex relaxed himself and swept away Elise's hand. He asked, "So you already made a friend?"

"Yup, we just clicked in," Elise said with a smile.

"Yo Ely, as cute as ever," Denver said as he gave a thumbs up to her.

"Eww, who told you to hang out with Denny, big brother?" Elise said as she hid behind Jane and shot a disgusted look at Denver.

Denver clutched his chest as if he was deeply hurt and began to shed tears. He murmured, "Why does this ceiling look so beautiful suddenly aree I can make a swing here.."

Lex rolled his eyes and chopped at Elise's head. He said, "Don't do something like that, you know how dramatic he is. Now he's gonna continue this for the whole day. Anyways, let's go to the class."

"Oh yeah! We're in the same class, yay." Elise cheered as she completely forgot about Denver. She held Jane's hand and began to walk towards the classroom.

Lex also held the collar of depressed Denver and began to drag him towards the classroom.

"By the way, meet my new friend, Jane Reeves." Elise introduced Jane.

Lex nodded at her and said politely, "Nice to meet you."

"Likewise," Jane replied with a flat tone.
