Chapter 53 - Propose
At the tallest tree...
Shara ran into the tree with confidence, assuming Raqnid was there. Raqnid also headed towards the tree, confident that Shara was there, even though Ray had only indicated the direction Shara had left the hall. Raqnid, as usual, climbed the tree from the outside.
SHOOOSH!
"HUH?" The guard who was guarding the tree from outside felt something just pass by. "Just a bird!" the guard said.
Raqnid passed the guard with ease until he reached the top of the tree.
"Huff.." Raqnid looked around and saw someone's figure.
"Shara!" he called out.
"Huh?" Shara, upon hearing her name called, turned her head.
They both locked eyes and at that moment, they realized why this place crossed their minds when they were about to meet each other. This place was where they first met in the Elf country.
*Shara!* Raqnid thought to himself.
*Raqnid!* Shara thought to herself.
"I'm sorry, I must have mistaken you for someone else," Raqnid said.
*Huh? Mistaken?* Shara was puzzled.
"I'll be going now!" Raqnid said.
"Ahh, wait! It's me, Shara!"
"Shara? Sorry, I don't know you!"
"Huh? You don't know! It's me, Raqnid! Shara!"
"Huhh! How do you know my name?"
Wiping her eyes, "Sniff.. Sob.. What happened to you, Raqnid?" Shara began to shed tears upon seeing Raqnid seemingly not recognizing her.
"I'm sorry, I've lost my memory," Raqnid replied.
"Lost your memory! But, we met just three days ago! Sniff!"
"Oh, really! I'm sorry, I don't remember! I have to go now!"
"Hurmmm.. Wait! Who are you looking for? Sob!" Shara asked.
"Huh.. Ahh.. I'm looking for a woman!"
"A woman!" Shara was surprised to hear that.
"Sara! Her name is Sara!"
"Huh! Sara! Sniff.." Shara's feelings were mixed between sadness and joy.
*So, only Raqnid's old memories remain! Sob!* Shara thought to herself.
"I want to tell her something important!"
"Something important? What? Sniff!" Shara asked.
"I love her!" Raqnid said with a serious face, looking into Shara's eyes.
"Hahh!" Shara was shocked to hear those words as if the feelings were being expressed to her.
Shara then sat down, overwhelmed with emotion after hearing that confession, which wasn't meant for her as Shara but for Sara.
*Oops, she's crying even harder!* Raqnid started to feel guilty about his joke.
"Uhmm.. I heard that I lost my memory because I was slapped by her!" Raqnid said.
Shara, after hearing those words, looked at Raqnid.
"Sob.. Sniff.. Huargghh! I'm sorry, Raqnid!" Shara cried even harder.
Raqnid paled when he saw Shara crying even harder. *Arghh, doesn't she get my joke?*
"Shara, would you forgive me?"
"Huh? Are you talking about Sara, or did I mishear? Sob!"
"Shara, will you marry me!"
"Huh!" Shara got up and looked at Raqnid seriously.
Raqnid started to feel scared and regretted his earlier joke. The slap from Shara before still stung on Raqnid's right cheek.
"What? Weren't you just saying you loved someone else? And now you want to marry me?" Shara asked, her tone serious.
"Gulp! I-I-I mean, I-I-I love Sara, a-a-and I want to marry Shara! They're both the same person, isn't it?" Raqnid stammered in response, afraid of a sudden attack.
Shara remained silent and stared sharply at Raqnid as if to devour him. Then, Shara covered her face with both hands.
"I also love you, Raqnid! I also want to marry, Raqnid! The same person! Pfft!" Shara replied, blushing, having understood Raqnid's joke.
"Pffftt.. Hahaha!"
Raqnid then walked towards Shara. He knelt down on the ground, then he took something out of his pocket.
"Shara, will you be my life partner?" Raqnid proposed to Shara, offering a ring.
Touched to see her dream come true, Shara accepted Raqnid's proposal without any hesitation.
"I do!"
Just like what the old lady said, don't worry about what will happen after that. So, I didn't care at all about the consequences of my actions. For a moment, I forgot whose child I was; I had just proposed to.
Just like the old lady advised, didn't think about what would happen next. So, I didn't care about what might come from my actions. For a moment, I forgot who I was and I had just proposed to King Elf's daughter.
