"Inside his penthouse suite, he steered me to a very comfortable soft couch. "Lay down here for a second. I'll just get you a hot coffee." I heard him move around, but I did not care since thinking was becoming too much effort. As I waited for Nathan to return, I closed my eyes to stop my vision from spinning.
What had gotten to me? I did not act like this. I usually did not allow myself to get drunk. My mind was busy chastising myself for my uncharacteristic actions when I eventually succumbed to my drunken state.
After a while of just laying still, it came. I allowed it. This time, I embraced it completely, not stopping the memories from flooding my mind.
He was here on my 16th birthday. I was freaking out. I grabbed my friend and pulled her into the kitchen. "What shall I do Mia?" I was panicking.
"OK. Calm down. Deep breaths." She instructed while rubbing my shoulders. I peeked outside, where the party was in full swing. I saw my brother, Harry standing beside my cake with his baseball team and friends from our school.
Ever since I saw my brother's best friend a year ago, I decided that he was my soul mate and my future husband. I was young and in love. He was here for me. Well, technically, his whole team was here. My birthday was perfect.
Then, my mom started calling for me. It was time to blow the cake. Mia squeezed my cheek to give it back some color and shook me. "Come on before your mom drags us out of here and make a scene."
Just as any teenage girl would do in these circumstances, I acted as normal as possible. My mother and brother made everything impeccable, and it was the best birthday ever. Everyone seemed to be having a great time.
I was having the time of my life. The only lacking was my chance to be alone with him, and then I could say that my life was complete.
I sat on one of the benches in the garden to find some alone time. Feeling relieved that my party was almost over and a complete success, I had to rest my feet from wearing that dreadful three-inch heels that my mom insisted I paired with my dress. I was a bit of a tomboy, growing up with Harry and his friends.
The only girl I got along with was Mia, Harry's girlfriend. She truly understood my little quirks and the real me. The other girls were either intimidated by me since I was hanging out with the cool kids, meaning the baseball team, or they just wanted to use me to get near them.
"Can I sit with you?" I would recognize that voice anywhere. I thought he already left with the team. I could feel the excitement building up inside of me. Act cool, reminding myself.
"Sure." Too nervous to say anything else. We sit silently under the stars, but in truth, it was just the light bulbs, but the stars sounded more romantic. I could hear him breathing fast as if he was calculating his next move, just like he was as anxious as I was, but why. Why would he be nervous?
"It was a cool party," he said, followed by another deep breath. "Do you want to see magic?" He asked. I looked at him and saw his eyes sparkled as he smiled. It was the first time that I got this close and alone with him. It gave me the opportunity to study his face, his nose, his lips, and his beautiful blue eyes.
I just nodded, not wanting to speak and ruin this moment. All that happened this night was already magical. Everything about him enchanted me, and nothing could ever break the spell.
He presented me his hand with a red handkerchief, flipping it front and back and showing a plain square cloth. Waving it in the air and making some silly words, a single rose magically appeared in front of me.
"Happy birthday!" He reached his hand toward my face while his fingers moved some locks of my hair behind my ear. Then, he inserted the rose between it with his other hand. "Scarlet, you are so beautiful."
I thought I just died and went to heaven. "Thanks," I whispered as I stared at his striking blue eyes. He took my hand with his large ones, and we sit there for what seems like forever, at least a few minutes if I had to guess.
"I like you. I know I am older than you and the younger sister of my best friend." He paused, observing my reaction. I had no idea what he saw, but he continued. "I want you to be my girl."
I could not believe my ears. It was finally happening, my dream was coming true, and I was unable to utter even a single word. It was a total shock, not expecting such a declaration.
When I failed to respond, his face became solemn. "I am willing to wait until you are re---." He was not able to finish as I intertwined our fingers together and stammered shyly, "I... I want to be your girlfriend."
His face lighted as if he was the one who got his birthday present. "Wow... Are you sure?" When I nodded my head, he continued, "You're perfect. I want to shout, but I don't want to alarm your family." He was euphoric, and somehow that elated me too. I smiled widely.
"Can I give you my next gift?" I nodded. He took out something from his pocket. I could not see it, but I got a glimpse of an object that shimmered with the lights. "Face the other way," he instructed.
"What is it?" Curiosity now was making me bold. I turned my back on him, excited. I felt him moved my hair to the side as he placed something cold around my neck. I peered down on my chest, and there it was, a beautiful white gold necklace with a unique shape pendant. I touched the piece of jewelry and stared at its gorgeous design.
There was a little stone on the top portion that looked like a star shining on the S shape engraving located at the bottom side.
"It is a locket. I designed it just for you. You can open it." I was now facing him, unable to express how amazed and blessed I was on this special day of my life. I tried to open it and failed. It appeared that the locket needed a few tricks to unlock it.
"I love it. Thank you." I hugged him. Gazing at the shiny treasure must cost him a fortune, but I would have loved it even if it were rubbish as long as it came from him, I reasoned.
I felt him move his hands and cupped my face. The air suddenly changed, the place became darker, my heart suddenly skipped a beat. His eyes focused only on one thing, my lips.
"Can I kiss my girl as my last gift?" He said as he lowers his head to mine. I nodded, thinking of receiving the best gift I could ever receive. My first kiss from the man of my dreams was about to come true. Only this time, it was not a dream.
I felt his hand on my arm while the other one moved to my cheek. I could feel him moving in front of me as his face came closer, and then I met him halfway.
I was kissing him. I demanded him to kiss me back with much intensity. I coaxed his lips to open, and I heard him groan. Then, his tongue started dueling with mine. He started responding to my advances with equal eagerness and began exploring my body.
He started fiddling with the strap of my dress, and I felt his mouth slide down to the skin behind my ear, my neck, and along my shoulders, while his other hand sneaked up at my knees up to my thighs as I feel the hem of my dress hiked up as he made his way upwards.
He wanted me as much as I wanted him as he laid on top of me. I could feel it in my very core and from the indication of his arousal. I want him to take me, right here and right now. I started fumbling with his buttons and removed his shirt off.
I could feel his tight muscles under my fingertips, and the electricity it generated only fueled my craving for him. I was beyond stopping now. I felt his hands moved to my left breast as he started groping it, making me arched my back to increase the friction between his palms with the dress covering my flesh.
"I want you now, Nathan. Please!" I begged.
