Chapter 57: Extra!

"Who's there?!" Just as I debated barging in on Lilly mid-act, a sharp voice cut through the night. I froze.

It was a villager patrolling the area. Caught peering into someone's home in the dead of night, I was one misunderstanding away from being labeled a thief—or worse. Without hesitation, I bolted.

"Stop right there!"

The guard shouted and gave chase, but there was no way he could keep up. My Evolved Body granted me speed and agility far beyond human limits, and I easily lost him.

Still, I knew better than to push my luck. Having already been spotted once, the patrols would likely double. For now, I abandoned the plan to approach Lilly and instead turned toward the outskirts of the village to hunt for more elixirs.

Meanwhile, Lilly lay in her room, completely unaware of my presence earlier.
