After Tyson left all the wood in the shed, and Sam left the bowl of foraged food in the kitchen, Lynn quickly gave a tour to Tyson and Sam around the house, the three of them were all sweaty, so he tried to make the tour short.
"There are two still two bedrooms ready to use. You have to wash the bed clothing first though. By the way, each bedroom comes with its own bathroom, so we will not need to fight for bathroom uses." Lynn felt that what he said in the last part was unnecessary.
"Hey, thanks, Lynn, for letting us stay."
"Yeah… thanks." Sam shyly retreated behind Tyson.
A laugh almost escaped from Lynn's mouth, but he valued more his little average life, so he decided to hold his laughter. The girl may look harmless, but she had a sharp tongue, and her reflexes were faster than any man.
"So, how about we all take a bath since we are all gross? Then maybe we can cook something for lunch and get to know each other better?" Lynn voice went lower while finishing the sentence. Communication was definitely not his best skill. Visual eye-contact either.
Lynn then went upstairs to his room and took a bath. Meanwhile, Sam and Tyson were still deciding who will have which room. There was a room next to Lynn, while the other room was in front of Lynn's.
"So… Sam, which room are you going to choose?"
"This is not a camp, Tyson. We are not here to fight for who sleeps in the upper bed of the bunker. I'm fine with a room." Sam's gaze was focused on the room that in front of Lynn's. This made Tyson's heart ache a bit. His little sister, Anna would have been around Sam's age if she had not died in the plane crash with their parents. Anna and Sam had so much in common. Anna also liked to beat the crap out of Tyson each time he made a stupid remark.
"Okay then," Tyson said trying to push away the sad memories, "I'm taking the one that is next to Lynn's room. See you later, Sam!" Tyson sprinted up the stairs, trying to make sure that Sam would not notice his change of attitude. His family died a long time ago, so there was no reason for him to be so sad still. Yet, the wound seemed as if it was still recent, especially with all this whole crazy zombie thing happening. It made Tyson realize that he could lose anyone in the blink of an eye.
"Dammit, T. Get a hold of yourself!" Tyson muttered as he then noticed that he also had Sam's small bag inside his backpack.
"Tyson! How am I going to change if you have my clothes! Are you brainless or what?" Sam shouted as she knocked the door.
Tyson took a deep breath to get a hold of himself. He took out Sam's bag and opened the door. "Hey… sorry! My fault!" Tyson handed Sam the bag is if it was burning in his hands.
"Um…"
Tyson slammed the door in Sam's face.
"Thank you…" Sam said to the door.
"Seriously, what's with these guys, one is a complete scaredy-cat and this one is sort of brainless and he is now acting weird. Does this have something to do with the whole zombie thing or is it that they are just like this…" Sam muttered all the way back to her room.
Sam was the one with the fewest things packed up. To begin with, she did not have an option, if it were not for her emergency clothes change that she had in her car, she would not even have something to change.
She heard the running water from both rooms, as she took out the bedding sheets to wash them. Lynn had showed them a washer and dryer somewhere in the house, Sam could not believe that Lynn or better said, Lynn's parents owned such a big house in the middle of nowhere. The house was almost a mansion compared to the small studio apartments that she has always rented.
Sam threw her bag and sat down in the corner of the bed for a few seconds. 24 hours ago, she was ambushed by some gangsters because of a debt that her scumbag ex-boyfriend had used her name for it. To her luck, if she could call it that, the zombie apocalypse just broke, and those gangsters had a trouble bigger than her to deal with.
"Too bad they got eaten by the zombies. I did enjoyed smashing their heads though." Sam smirked as she remembers how those gangsters escaped while screaming like little girls.
Sam took out her change of clothes and went to the shower. She noticed that the bathroom was already equipped with towels and toiletries. People always say that girls took a lot of time in the shower, Sam was all the contrary. Coming from a background where she had to learn to be independent and fend off herself, she knew that by just being pretty, she would end up being eaten up by the monsters that were in this world. She knew that because of her small stature, men would consider her an easy target. That's why she learned how to fight, and to always be alert of her surroundings.
Sam heard a knock on the door from the shower. She quickly turned off the shower and grab a towel to wrap herself.
"Wait a sec! I'm getting dressed!"
So... I know... the last chapters have been a bit short (less than 1k word count). I was writing the 15k words for the WPC that is finishing this week so, got distracted by that... and also I'm trying to write more chapters of my contracted work. So, to prevent from writing useless info again, I decided to cut short the chapters. Better short than nonsense!
