I Can Only Summon Cannon Fodders to Survive the Apocalypse!

Lynn Carter was just an average writer, that was until a zombie outbreak started. Now, with his new magical brush, he shall transform and summon the great and not so worthy cannon fodders to defeat the zombies. Watch him survive the apocalypse while summoning the useless cannon fodders!

The first rays of the sun shone through the second story in Lynn's room at the cabin. The room was a bit smaller than his room in London, but it was relatively spacious. His ceiling was still painted in dark blue with glow-in-the-dark stars and planets glued into it. His walls were on a lighter shade of blue.

Last night when Lynn was left all alone, he locked all the doors and went immediately to his room to sleep. He had been so tired to even change the bedding sheets. He just slept there with the dusty sheets from the last time's visit. The zombie's brain matter was just left to dry in his living room.

Lynn woke up by the sun rays shining directly into his eyes. He almost threw up immediately, since he smelled of sweat and God knows what else. He was nasty as hell, but the tired won over his body, and Lynn had not noticed it till now.

"Ugh… What is this smell?" Lynn muttered as he realized that the pungent smell came from him. It was still early in the morning, maybe around six in the morning, but Lynn knew he could not stay forever in bed. No character who stayed in bed all day survived an apocalypse after all. Less someone as average as him, by normal story plot he should already be dead.

With sluggish movements, he then went downstairs and looked in his backpack for some clothes to change as he went back upstairs to take a shower. The good thing about his family cabin was that Lynn's parents had valued a lot their comfort, so the cabin had always been well equipped.

His parents valued commodity so much that the cabin was more like a small brick house more than a wooden log cabin. His parents had basically replicated their London house into the cabin. If Lynn was honest, the cabin was even better than his house in London. One of the reasons may be because he hated doing house chores and he just let the house rot with him.

As Lynn emerged from the shower, he felt as new. His stomach finally protested from hunger since his last meal was more than 24 hours ago. He dressed up in a comfy grey t-shirt and some short khaki-colored pants.

He then went back down to the kitchen where he checked the pantry first to see if there was anything still edible. To Lynn's luck, his parents not only valued comfort but also affordability. When Lynn was little, they had always scolded Lynn for wasting or throwing food. Therefore, the pantry was full of non-perishable foods that if eaten correctly could last him for at least half a year.

He quickly grabbed some canned sardines and grabbed some rice to cook it. As Lynn sat in the counter to eat his food, he felt as if this was the best food he had ever tasted in his life. It could have been maybe because of his hunger or the fact that he was grateful for surviving the zombies.

After eating, he cleaned the dishes and went outside to the shed to grab an axe. He was planning on gathering some wood to have it in case he needed to light the fireplace. The heater should still be working, but who knows. The house had not received any maintenance for the last year. Anything could break down suddenly, and Lynn was no repairman.

Since it was so calm, Lynn totally forgot that he was in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. He just remembered it when he suddenly heard a noise coming from the forest.

"Please, don't let it be zombies… Please, don't let it be zombies…" As he grabbed the axe with all his might as if his sweaty hands will made it slip it off.

Soon, the sounds became more audible, apparently, it was not screeching or gurgling sounds. It was another human voice.

"Hey, little person! I think I found a house!" The voice seemed like a male.

Lynn still grabbed the axe tightly waiting for something or someone emerge from the darkness made by the trees.

Apart from the male voice, Lynn can also hear a soft female voice. Yet, maybe because of the distance he still was not able to hear what she was saying.

"There's no way people have found the cabin…" The mountain was not a famous hiking trail. Lynn's parents have even made fake path trails to keep away other people. Only him, his parents and Grandpa Merlin knew the exact direction of the cabin. The chances for two people to stumble with the exact path was almost impossible.

"It must have taken them days to find the correct path, but the apocalypse just started 24 hours ago…"

Lynn was definitely starting to become paranoid again. He was imagining inside his head a million ways this encounter could go wrong and he would die. He was no fighter, and he could not transform even if he wanted because of the stupid once-per-day summon rule.

Just as he was about to piss his pants again for the millionth time in 24 hours, a guy emerged from the woods. He looked almost as Lynn's age. He was tall and muscular. The golden boy from every rom-com movie. He was wearing a white T-shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and black sneakers. He was carrying a small backpack with him, which seemed full of stuff.

"Hey! There is someone here!" The guy shouted back to the forest, "Come quickly, you little minion!"

"I've told you many times, don't call me a minion or tiny, or any adjectives describing people not as tall as you!" A girl maybe 5'0 tall emerged from the forest all grumpy. She was wearing heavy makeup that had clearly been way too long on her face since the black eyeliner was already all smudge as her red lipstick. She was wearing an all-black outfit that was made of a T-shirt and shorts. The only non-black thing in her outfit was her dark brown combat boots.

"By the way, I think I found someone," the guy said pointing at Lynn.

So... what happens when you decide to take a Christmas break and end up without chapters in your pile to publish after that?

You end up like me trying to get your schedule right again...

This is an introductory chapter with new characters so it will be a tad bit slower than the others. The action will be built up slowly. Don't expect zombies or Lynn summoning cannon fodders in each chapter. (At least for now...)

As you can see our MC is very weak right now, and just having a magic brush won't save him forever from the zombies. Also, remember he still needs to meet that "someone" his grandfather mentioned in the letter.

So... with no more to say... hehe... have fun reading and let me know anything I could improve. ᵔ ᴥ ᵔ
