After a few more hours driving, finally, at 9:00 pm they arrived the cabin was finally on view.
"General Li, it seems like we arrived in one piece and alive!" Lynn sang in victory as he parked the car in front of the cabin.
The area was an open sky circle area where the cabin was located. In the back, there was a shed, where Lynn's parents kept all the gardening and repairing tools. The cabin was then surrounded by the thousand of trees that were on top of the mountain.
Their water supply came from a river nearby, and their electricity came from the solar panels on top of the cabin.
Li Mu Qing then cleared his throat and said, "Too early to sing victory, Lynn. The front door appears open."
"Bloody damn hell!" Lynn muttered as both of them went down the car. Li Mu Qing then gestured Lynn to stay behind him. Lynn grabbed tightly his hammer prepared to attack anything that came to his way. The fictional general then softly pushed the door open and step inside into the dark living room which was only illuminated by the night sky.
As Li Mu Qing inspected the area, the both of them heard a gurgling sound on top of the stairs. It was clearly the same sound the zombies made.
"Zombie, stairs, General Li," Lynn said as softly as possible.
"Understood, I see… Before Li Mu Qing could finish the zombie came running into their direction. Li Mu Qing could evade him, but Lynn was frozen in place. Instead of evading him, Lynn swung his hammer and zombie brain matter started flying everywhere, as the rotten body slumped into the floor.
"Woah, great job, Lynn!" Li Mu Qing said.
"I thought you job was to protect me! You just evaded the zombie and left me here!" Lynn said thinking how his life had flashed his in front of his eyes.
Li Mu Qing then shrugged as if he did not cared if Lynn got killed. Lynn was really confused. Li Mu Qing was acting weirder with each passing hour. Was it there something faulty with the brush that made the character go out of characters after a few hours or was it something else? Lynn could not bother to think about it right now.
Lynn found the light switch and turned on the lights. As the lights came on, Lynn told Li Mu Qing to follow him as he inspected the rooms. He did not need another zombie coming out of nowhere.
After the quick inspection, Lynn then made sure that his front door could still be locked. He then said to Li Mu Qing to help him burn the zombie. There was no safer way for the undead to remain undead than them turning into ashes.
"But, Lynn, there is no fire pit."
Lynn then came out of the shed with two shovels, a can of gas, and a lighter, "Then… We make one!"
After another hour and a half of intense digging, the hole for the fire pit was deep enough, and Lynn told Li Mu Qing to throw the remains of the dead zombie inside. After that, Lynn threw a bit of gasoline, and put the whole corpse in fire.
"Dust to dust and ashes to ashes," Lynn muttered as he saw how the corpse burnt.
After another hour of two after he was sure that the corpse was burnt to ashes, he then asked for Li Mu Qing to help him kill the fire.
"I don't need the whole place burning to the ground," Lynn clarified.
Lynn noticed that Li Mu Qing eyes looked unfocused.
"Hey, General Li, are you okay?"
"Yes…"
Lynn then shook it off and thanked Li Mu Qing for his help as he grabbed the suitcase and backpack and threw them in the living room.
He had passed more than six hours transformed, and he was not going to risk it any more by passing more unnecessary seconds transformed.
"So… I think this is goodbye, General Li," Lynn said sort of sad that he needed to say goodbye to his only kind of friend.
Li Mu Qing nodded.
Lynn then realized that he was not sure how to transform back since his grandfather had not specified it in the letter. Did he just magically wished for it as he did back then when he transformed?
"Well, let's try it," Lynn thought.
Before he started guessing how to transform back, he said one last thing to Li Mu Qing hoping to change his future even though he knew it was impossible. "By the way General Li, please don't get yourself killed by anyone, not even me."
Li Mu Qing now looked confused, but before Lynn could say anything, he felt the brush inside his tuxedo getting warm as he wished to transform back. And just as fast as Li Mu Qing appeared hours ago, he disappeared.
"Well then, safe trip, my friend…" Lynn whispered into the air as he looked again as the average guy he was.
