His eyes gazed over the silver words and committed to memory the steps.
"Form a pillar of misfortune and wrap it entirely in fortune. Shake the pillar till the two merge into luck and slowly insert activated Arcane Energy." He said the first part of the skill aloud as he did it. After inputting a certain amount of Arcane Energy the pillar collapsed into a ball which absorbed all the fortune energy around it…
Which wasn't much since it was a mini realm barely capable of creating it, but still enough to suffice for the skill.
"The next step… form and compress the ball into a square. Wait. Why does it say good luck?" Vin actually got scared now just because it said good luck. He looked around his room praying to Rakna that it wouldn't need to be remade.
He poured all his focus, even the bit that was used for thinking about useless things, into this task. Every bit of willpower was mustered into something this dumb dumb should have waited literally a day till after classes started.
The energy began to flatten out and form into a square between his hands. The square was then pushed inward from each of its sides. Grunts could be heard coming from Vin while he attempted to do the impossible.
Until…
A silent explosion occurred within his hands. He had accidentally put too much force on one side causing it to destabilize. This, not being deadly, was still extremely painful.
The luck energy lightly scalded and slashed his hands as the energy bursted outward.
Even with a body at Tier Two the energy indiscriminately harmed him as he couldn't control it correctly. However he felt something ingrain itself into his hands. A message appeared in front of him reading it through the pain.
[Unnamed Skill] - [A passive skill created by Vin Aphelion after successfully failing to use Gambler's Gambit. The skill passively adds misfortune effects to any offensive attack that passes through the user's right hand. And adds fortune effects to any support abilities that passes through the user's left hand.]
Instantly, Vin released some Arcane Energy from his left hand and shifted it to Healing Energy. One of the many he had seen so all he had to do was replicate it, something normal people can do without seeing it.
Now it is important to note why ambient energies aren't visible while spells and energy compressed by people (and machines) are. It about activation, in terms of spells the energy has been activated to cause something. For compressed energy, it's been activated by the will of the person and changes it's purpose, no longer being able to be used as a normal spell ingredient.
Why was this important? Because if simply activating the energy made it visible, spells would be a whole lot easier, and because you have to activate it for it to work at the end.
So when the skill, Gambler's Gambit, failed it activated the rest of the luck energy. The energy being mostly out of his control since it exploded. Remnants of it exist in a half activated state in his hands as a new passive.
This is the main reason luck effects were applied to the healing energy he released. The healing energy then was activated without no intricate skills and washed over his hands soothing this pain but not patching up the wound.
It can't be expected some random kid could instantly heal his self with no former practice. This kid did know someone who could heal him though… Anna would have to be his only choice as the health potion in his cabinets are too potent for him, not exactly meant for present him.
Vin now finally used to the newly soothed pain grabbed his key to leave his room, making sure to lock it behind him. A drip sound was heard as he noticed he was still slightly bleeding and the passive was still active. So he turned the skill off.
There were only 17 doors which were separate realms the rest being normal rooms.
The normal rooms were numbered 1 through 47 with the person's first name and their last name's first letter. At door 23 and 24 he saw Annabelle. A and Annabelle. A. "Fuck." Vin mouthed, not trying to disturb everyone.
Knocking on door 23 he said, "Hey, are you the Annabelle that partied with Vin and Emma?"
The sound of both doors unlocking at nearly the same time frightened Vin, hoping it wasn't that he was about to be assassinated or something.
From door 24 came the kind Annabelle he partied with just earlier. From door 23 came another Annabelle, who looked like they just crawled out of hell against her will, "No I'm not. She is." The 'Edgy Annabelle' spoke in a low volume but she began to speak again, "But I can help her with healing the wounds on your hands." Walking to kind Annabelle, edgy Annabelle whispered something to her.
The kind Annabelle ran inside her room and began searching for something. Edgy Annabelle motioned for Vin to come inside, not worried about Vin doing anything out of line. After all, this school is very protective from the inside. No matter your background, it will still fall short of being able to freely do what you want there.
Closing the door behind him, edgy Annabelle immediately asked, "So how did you get those magical burns. You couldn't seriously have been fighting someone day one?"
Annabelle suddenly exclaimed out, "Anna! It's impolite to bu-"
Annabelle was suddenly interrupted by Vin, "It's fine. I was just manipulating some energies beyond my capabilities." Vin causally said as if what he was doing wasn't something shocking.
"You were what? Oh I get it, that's not a very funny joke." Anna said extremely confused and thinking Vin was lying.
Annabelle was also confused but didn't express it.
Vin just looked at the two with a helpless smile and made a shrugging gesture, "So are you gonna help or not? This kinda hurts."
Annabelle not letting Anna speak this time said, "Yeah… could you show me both of your hands?" As she held onto her staff with both hands. Anna grabbed a black cube which began to float, mouthing an incantation.
"Holy Light!" Annabelle uttered and a blinding light came forth from her staff- even more so for Vin who could see the energy she was using. His wounds began to heal at a rapid rate when the light rushed over his hands.
"Like a thread stitch it back together." Anna finally finished and a black light moved like a thread and patched it back together.
With both of their skills together the healing process was even better than he would have thought.
"So what energies were you using?" Anna asked, Annabelle just stared at her with an expression of defeat. "Oh you know, just Fortune and Misfortune. Trying to control luck is pretty difficult." Vin said causally again.
Anna had an expression of disbelief on her face as she replied, "Yeah… No. You can't fool me twice." Just the thought that someone at tier two has the capability to use that energy in any manner was outrageous.
Vin smirked for a moment before getting rid of it and put on a smug expression commonly seen in young masters, "Is that so? Guess I'll call this… Gambler Hands."
