Chapter-23

Ralph stared in my direction with his face full of anger. I simply turned toward Captain Lucas, no matter what but he was the true boss here.

As though Captain Lucas felt my stare, he turned in my direction with a thoughtful look and then turned toward Little Lady.

"Young Miss! Want to see more?!"

Captain Lucas asked loudly.

I too turned in her direction. For me, what she told would naturally matter even more than Captain Lucas.

A thoughtful look appeared on Little Lady's face as she thought about the answer, while I silently glanced behind and saw Ralph seething in anger.

'I need to be careful...in case he used his wind magic, something he was shown to be proficient in.'

I silently thought. I may have a slight increase in my physique but it was nowhere near where I could defeat someone who knows how to use magic, even though not in a proficient manner.

Little Lady nodded in Captain Lucas's direction.

The Duke corrupted her way too much, he should have kept his mouth shut while telling her stories.

Haa....nothing could be done now.

I bowed in Little Lady's direction and turned towards Ralph.

"Go back to your positions!"

I nodded and walked back to where I was standing before and Ralph too went back to his previous position. I need to be more careful this time.

Anger could force people to do the unthinkable. And it had already happened with James' case too.

"Start!"

This time too, the moment Captain Lucas spoke that, Ralph charged in my direction.

But there was something else, his speed was, even more, faster, and even the muscles around his face were tightened.

I quickly drew my sword and took my stance, placing my sword in front of my face, and concentrated fully on what was in front of me. My eyes were wide open.

The moment Ralph reached in front of me, he did the same thing as before and slashed his sword, and I as quickly as possible sidestepped. But it seemed as though he was ready for that, and using everything he had, he changed the direction of his sword to the right.

His speed was not much but it can't be said about the force behind that slash as he had used all of his strength in it.

If not for the fact that I was proficient in fighting, then I would have been defeated here.

But it was not, I was proficient in fighting. I parried his sword using my katana and with the force from the recoil, I twisted my body, rotating it in a circle, and slashed my katana on Ralph's back again, but this time, I used all the power I could.

*Thud*

Ralph slammed on the ground loudly. But my condition was not that better. My whole body was trembling.

'It seemed like taking all the force of that slash on my body was not a good decision...'

I had taken all the force behind the slash that Ralph had hit me with but my current condition was not enough to nullify all the force behind that.

I used my katana as a way to support myself and kept standing. It was too much for my body to do that...

'I need to be more careful in the future...it was risky, if a single step went wrong, I would have dislocated my shoulders and ankles...'

I turned around and saw Captain Lucas with his mouth wide agape, but I was not interested in seeing that, what I wanted to see was Little Lady, and saw her running in my direction.

Welp, It seemed like I made her worried...

That was all I thought before my body fell to the ground with a loud *Thud*

And My consciousness slowly faded away.

Everyone in the Hall looked at Kyle with their eyes wide agape, it was way more than a surprise to them at this point.

Kyle defeated Ralph! The most talented one under 15!

But the black-haired girl ignored the calmness that was formed there and ran toward Kyle with worry and tension on her face.

Her speed increased even more when she saw Kyle falling on the floor, and his fall also awoke everyone out of their surprise expression.

Reaching in front of Kyle, she quickly kneeled and picked Kyle by his head and continued to move his body.

"Kyle! Kyle! Talk right now!!"

Lilliana screamed while placing her hand on Kyle's face and continued to shake him. Tears gathered around her eyes as she continued to shake Kyle anxiously.

'Because of me...!! WHY? Why did I wish to see a spar!? I am cursed! I shouldn't wish for anything at all!!'

Lilliana's thoughts started to turn negative, with the habit of self-blaming everything on herself started to resurface.

She had this habit whenever something around her went wrong as from her birth, everything was wrong and even worse.

Captain Lucas came out of his surprise and quickly went towards Kyle and kneeled down and checked his pulse and other stuff.

"Captain Lucas! What happened to Kyle?!"

Lilliana quickly inquired with tears flowing from her eyes.

Captain Lucas' expression relaxed as he checked Kyle's condition and looked at Lilliana and nodded.

"Young Miss, he is alright, but his body wasn't able to handle the extensive physical movement making him lose consciousness."

Hearing Captain Lucas, Lilliana relaxed but tears still flowed from her eyes.

'I shouldn't have said yes for another fight...'

Captain Lucas shook his head and patted Lilliana's head with a small smile.

"Young Miss, no need to overthink. He would have agreed to the fight even without you being here, so don't blame yourself."

Lilliana meekly nodded but as for following that? No, she can't.

Her thoughts still remained the same but her poker face came to use as she showed a little worried and a relaxed expression and held Kyle's head in her arms.

Captian Lucas seeing that turn towards the other trainees and ordered loudly.

"Go and call the Priests!"

Heeding his order, two trainees quickly ran out of the training hall and went out of the mansion, toward the west part of the city where the Church of Light Goddess was situated.

After 30 minutes, the guards came back with two people, one man and one woman wearing white robes with golden lining over the sleeves and the corner of their robes.

They were priests from the Chruch of Light Goddess that operated in Aldrith, the capital of Duke Avarice.

Both the priest and the priestess looked at Captain Lucas with a respectful expression and looked at Lilliana who was still on the ground with Kyle's head in her arms with disgust and deep hatred.

A frown appeared on Captain Lucas's face before he concealed it and spoke.

"I have called you here to heal the boy."

"Who is the boy you are speaking of, Captain Lucas?"

Captian Lucas hearing that question pointed at Kyle in Lilliana's arms.

The priest and priestess looked at Kyle and then each other and nodded.

"We will do it."

Captain Lucas nodded and the two priests walked beside Lilliana who had her head hung down since the priests appeared looked up to see them standing in front of her.

"Young Miss, could you please lay the boy on the ground?"

The Preist asked with a kind smile as though his eyes don't show disgust and hate.

'No...Lilliana, you need to act strong...'

Lilliana nodded and slowly laid Kyle on the floor and sat beside him on the floor.

The Priestess kneeled down and placed her right hand on Kyle's head and closed her eyes for a moment before opening them again and turned towards the Priest and informed.

"He is alright, just extreme stress on the body."

"I see..."

The priest nodded and thought for a moment before replying.

"Use Heal, it would be beneficial for now. The rest would be just some rest."

Priestess nodded and changed her hand's position from head to the chest and slowly chanted.

"Heal"

A small magic circle in golden light formed on Kyle's chest and slowly, a golden light started to cover Kyle's body.

Captian Lucas mentally clicked his tongue seeing that, 'Tch...there is a limit of a showoff, there was not a single need to do it that flashy...'

Captain Lucas had worked with priests in the past, and from different churches too, so he knew that the Priestess was showing off as [Heal] was a basic spell that had no need to have the whole body covered in golden light.

Lilliana worriedly gazed at Kyle. She was feeling more and more sorry for being the reason that this happened to Kyle.
