I Am Your Clock!

This novel is in the Webnovel Spirity Awards 2023 competition for ML: New Tropes: Unique Systems and Kingdom Building. Updated every day ——— I was like you once, but now I am in some place. What is this place? Why is it all black, but I can still see myself? Where am I? Who am I? Am I still the person who I think I am? Am I Matthias the Human? Or… am I something else?

Ch 3: I am a flaming ball of fire

"Oh fuck you!"

(Conversion to Clock, Subject "Sun", status, 90% Complete)

I sweat drop. "That fast? Can we like actually slow down a little? I was reborn, like… A while ago, actually, but you get the point! How did you even do it that fast?"

(Answer: The system is extremely capable when turning things into Clocks. You will find that when you Create a Clock out of nothing as opposed to turning something else into a Clock, it will take a lot longer.)

"Why?"

(Answer: You would be attempting to create matter out of Time infused Mana, which is akin to turning energy into a solid form. This would not be a problem with something like Earth infused mana, which has a gateway to transform, but this information is irrelevant, as you cannot access Earth infused Mana.)

I sweat drop again. "Then why are you telling me about Earth Mana?"

(…)

Ignoring the Systems lack of answer, I continue with my questions. "If thats the case, then why did the random clock not take a long time?"

(Answer: The Sundial at The Forest of Death was made out of a tree stump that was chopped down.)

"Ok, that I can understand, but what abou-"

Before I can continue, the System finishes beeps, cutting me off.

(Conversion of the Sun into a Clock has been completed.)

And suddenly, light entered my little world. A sun appeared above me. My black domain turned white.

"Woah," I can't help but express my surprise at this development.

I look straight at it. Surprisingly, I wasn't blinded. It looked exactly like a small sun, extremely close. It was orange with yellow veins, constantly crossing all apart every part of the sun they can reach. Deep red and deep yellow shoots out of the sun every few seconds only to fall back into the sun. I reached out for it in my fascination.

"N/A.

Space

*ERROR*"

My vision shifted again.

It wasn't really that different. I was still floating in a large space. The difference was that directly in front of me was a giant planet. Green and blue, it dominated the color scheme, as everything else around it was black and devoid of life. Two moons spun around the planet, dodging each other in a dance of death, because if one takes a wrong step, crash goes the planet!

"This… is nice." I relax at the beautiful sight in front of me. A pleasant bubbling feeling was constantly firing off every few seconds inside of me, as if I could feel the stars fusion go off.

I continue to observe the planet, identifying what's on it. It was a blue ball with a giant green splotch covering almost half of the planet. Although I can't see behind it, I have a feeling nothing is there just because of how much land was in front of me. The landmass looked… strange to be honest. If I had to describe it, it looked incredibly similar to Pangea.

I sigh. "This isn't going to help me identify the geography that much if I am this far away."

I begin to return to my dimension. When I arrive, I close my eyes at the sudden white, Completely forgetting the brand new star that is in my dimension. I get over it quickly, though, and I begin talking with the system.

"What now?"

(Well, you have a few choices. 1, as you chose Clock creation, you can continue to create clocks all over the world, but this isn't very viable.. 2, you can relax as a sundial for a while and attempt to talk to people that pass by. 3, do nothing at all, You literally have all the time in the world.)

(However, as the System, I would recommend to host to start getting people to worship you.)

"Worship me? Why would I do that?" I asked, not exactly opposed to the idea.

(Please open your status.)

"… This again? Menu."

Clocks

Q&A)

'Status' I try to say in my mind.

———

Name: Matthias

Age: 69 Days

Race: Eldritch

Status: Healthy

Mental Status: Suboptimal

Representation of Mana: 0MP/100MP

Representation of Mana Recharge: 1MP per 12 hours.

Current mood: Neutral/ Partially Sane

———

"So I spent 69 days in the darkness doing nothing but counting?"

(That is correct, Host.)

"Nice."

(What?)

"Nothing!" I joke a little. "Why was the days I've lived in my other life not count?"

(Because souls are reused.)

"What does that mean?"

(Souls are rarely created, and when they are created, they are created sparingly. The soul is just wiped upon death and is sent back into *REDACTED DUE TO FORBIDDEN INFORMATION* and are eventually just reused into new bodies. As such, the age is based on the body, not the soul or the mind.)

I smile, trying my hardest to ignore the redacted part as I am more than a little fearful as to what will happen if I ask. "Why is my MP zero? And why is my recharge so high?"

(This is why you need people to worship you. This will also answer as to why trying to constantly create Clocks is not a good idea. Each time you create a Clock, it will use 100MP. To get more MP, you have to have more people worship you. 1 person that worships you is an additional 10 points of Mana. Each person also equals a subtraction of 1 minute from the recharge time.)

I groan. "This is going to be a pain in the ass!"

(…)

"Yeah, thanks for the response, 'buddy'," I talk about the systems silence as I reach for the sundial.

"5:12PM

The Forest of Death

*ERROR*"

As my vision adjusts, I simply relax. I can't move, so I will wait. I can't talk to people from the sun, so I will use the sundial. If there is a wooden stump here that the sundial was made of, that means people will come here.

I will wait for you…

Because I know you will come.
