Jealousy at it's finest (2)

As I looked at the two of them, they fit well together. The girl who had just arrived was smiling brightly. I can say the same thing about Cassius.

They talked for a couple of minutes, then something weird happened. As the girl was talking, Cassius suddenly covered her mouth as if she was about to say something.

It was weird. I can't really listen directly, but there was one spell that can make you hear conversations from afar. The bad thing is that I forgot about it.

No matter, I'll remember as I stalk— I mean, guard them. He wouldn't recognize me with a cap and a face mask, right? Well, I'll just have to wait and see.

After they finished their talk, they walked away, and of course, I followed them. I was trying to blend in with the crowd, but many people were looking at me.

Come on, it's just a girl trying to keep her companion safe. Maybe that girl has mind manipulation powers.

What am I thinking about as I looked at them? They were eating some ice cream, and the girl tried to feed Cassius her ice cream. So, I threw a small pebble at them. No biggie, right?

That was until Cassius caught it. He had really good reflexes that I didn't even know about. I'm getting kinda tired of just watching them, so I tried a secret family spell that was taught to me by my father. I didn't fully understand its concept, but I can listen to some extent of their conversation.

As I gather my mana into my hand, I chanted a few words, "Listen to the woes of men, wind talker." I blew the mana from my hand into the air.

And just then, "What should we do next?" I heard a male voice. It was Cassius. The spell worked! Well, of course, since I casted it myself, it would work 100 percent.

"Hmm, it's still too early for lunch. Why don't we get some desserts first?" I heard her voice for the first time, and dessert before lunch?

I looked at Cassius and saw his confused face. Of course, who would eat sweet desserts before eating lunch? There's a pattern to these things.

Then the girl pulled Cassius towards the streets, "Come on, there's a cake shop near here!"

It's been a couple of minutes, and I have been following them. The girl only ate and ate, meanwhile Cassius... Well, it's not like he's having fun either.

"You shouldn't eat too much, Cecilia," that's right, Cassius, tell that girl to stop being a glutton.

"Call me Cecil, and no, I still have a lot of room in my stomach. Don't worry!"

Yup, she's a glutton for sure. How did Cassius meet her!? I'm supposed to be the only glutton in his life. My words are getting cringier by the minute.

As the girl, or I should call her Cecilia, continues to stuff her face with cake and lots of 'em, she must be fairly wealthy. As they walk, they had an interesting conversation.

"So, Lord Cassius, how did you and my brother meet?"

"Hm, well, I did find your brother in a burning village, that's a hundred percent sure. Pathetically, he cried about saving your father. At that time, he was far older than me, but since I'm a special someone, I did what I could and saved your father."

"Oh, no wonder my brother came out alive. You see, my mother and I managed to escape via wagon, but you saved my father? He wasn't with my brother when he met us again."

Then Cassius stopped in his tracks and looked at Cecilia with strange eyes. It was full of pity and sorrow. It may look like nothing to Cecilia, but from how I see it, Cassius knows something, something that shouldn't be said no matter what.

"Let's get lunch, okay?" Cassius's face turned from sorrowful to happy as he tried to change the topic.

Cassius took her to a really nice restaurant, not as fancy as the one back in the old town, but it was still extravagant. As they entered, I was still outside, the words that they were saying being disrupted. Maybe it's because of the distance? Well, luckily, they were sat down beside the window so I can see them.

"So, Lord Cassius, how hard is it with your work?" Cassius has a job? Wait, seriously? I thought he was just a random dude going around the entire continent.

"Well, as you can see, I'm currently broke," that's obvious, really obvious, "it doesn't really pay much. Well, not pay much, more like not getting paid entirely, but the hate I get just because I'm—"

Cassius stopped mid-sentence. What was he about to say? Then he told Cecilia to come closer as he whispered into her ear.

"It's hard since I'm the De—", De? What de? What Dee hell just happened? I looked at them and saw that Cassius was still moving his mouth, so it's not him stopping mid-sentence; it was my spell stopping.

Oh, come on, is it because I'm too far? I should get a bit closer. Wait, shouldn't I just enter the restaurant? That seems a bit better, so I did. When I arrived at the reception, she said this:

"Do you have a reservation?"

"I don't."

"Well, since you do not have a reservation, I'm afraid we can't let you in... Unless you pay cash now," she smirked at me.

As I sighed, I asked her how much to get in.

"3 gold coins!" Three? Gold coins? This is madness. Madness, I'm telling you. Who the hell would pay three just to eat at the restaurant? Come on, old lady!

"You can pick whichever empty seat is left," I sighed. In the end, I did it anyways. I can't believe I just did that with my gold coins, stalking them. I mean, watching them better be worth it.

As I watched them talk and eat, I got hungry, so I ordered some of my food as well. Today, my pockets will be wiped out.

I was enjoying the food that I ate until they stood up and asked the waiter for the bill. They're leaving already? My food isn't even finished! I can't leave these here. As a food lover, no food must be left when leaving the restaurant; that is a must!

So, even though it was a lot, I need to eat all of this. I can't waste my money and food!

As they exited the restaurant, I gulped the glass of wine and ran, but not before leaving the money and some tip for the waiter.

I thought I lost them, but eventually, I found them in the stall checking out some accessories.
