A Chance Encounter

Tsunade and Shizune had been running, once again the sanin had gotten them into gambling trouble.

Hiding near a small strip of a river, the two ladies lay back, watching clouds. Tsunade took a chug from her bottle of alcohol and stared into the distance.

Slowly in the corner of her vision, a body floated across the river, travelling downstream. She took another chug, uncaring toward it.

Shizune on the other hand exclaimed aloud, "Huh??? Tsunade-Sama there is a body in the river!!"

Tsunade glanced at the kid and burped aloud rather boisterously causing her boobies to jiggle for a moment.

Shizune on the other hand ignored the nonchalant Tsunade, rushing to drag the body out of the river.

She quickly checked his vitals, the twenty-three-year-old woman was rather curious and as the apprentice of one of the three sanins and the best medical practitioner of the current era, she was someone who could not ignore those suffering in health.

She frowned.

"Not good, there's water in his lungs and he is poisoned not to mention the crushed bones… how he is still alive is a miracle."

Tsunade glanced at Shizune and the man she was trying to pump the heart of. A particular clan symbol struck her. The emblem of a fan blowing fire.

"An Uchiha kid?" She frowned. Upon looking a little more closely, her expression marred further. "Uchiha Shisui…?"

Of course, she knew who Shisui Uchiha was. Although she didn't participate in the third ninja war, everyone knew the famous individuals who were a part of it. Especially this Uchiha prodigy, he had a high bounty on his head.

'Should I just sell him for bounty?' Tsunade wondered, it would certainly help her settle some debts or gamble a bit more.

Shizune glanced at her Lady Tsunade in shock as she stared at the dying man, "Uchiha Shisui…? The teleporter…? But why is he here especially in such a critical condition…?

Tsunade contemplated for a moment. She gazed at the Uchiha kid with a calculative gaze and then clicked her tongue.

"Probably something to do with those old fools."

Oh and her guess was correct. By now, Tsunade was especially aware of the darkness of Konoha very well. Such a village was the spitting disappointment on her grandfather's legacy.

She clicked her tongue again, chugging the bottle of alcohol down. She wiped some of the saliva that was leaking and informed Shizune.

"I am going to take a nap. We'll leave in a day or two as soon as possible."

Although Tsunade would have preferred they leave in a day, she understood that healing the Uchiha kid would take a day at least and another for rest.

With a glance from afar, she was able to understand everything wrong with Shisui Uchiha. Shizune being her apprentice would easily be able to heal.

As for why wanting to even heal the kid?

'Heh. Those old fuckers are going to be pissed.'

Tsunade giggled to herself. If she couldn't get the bounty then this was definitely the opportunity cost, the next best option.

Meanwhile, Shizune had pumped all the water out of Shisui's lungs and proceeded to give a bit of mouth-to-mouth.

Panting slightly she looked at Shisui, relieved. There was more color to his face however it didn't help the fact that he was poisoned and almost about to die.

For that, she quickly began to use medical ninjutsu and used a shadow clone to go and fetch a few ingredients that she direly needed to save Uchiha Shisui.

An hour and a half passed.

"You can't die. You can't die. You can't-" Shizune was distressed as sweat trickled off her face. No medical ninja liked their patient dying on them. Especially if they had put effort into them.

After enough usage of medical ninjutsu, Shizune was completely out of chakra but fortunately, she had healed enough to remove him from the critical situation.

She quickly administered a dose of the antidote she made to counter the poison at the right moment and instantly Shisui's face already looked a little less blue, slowly regaining a bit of a healthy color.

Carrying Shisui to an empty shack, she laid him on a futon that she removed from her sealing storage.

Tsunade was right next to him sleeping on the other futon and she had one beside her already laid out.

She sighed aloud, wiping her sweat as a happy smile crept onto her face. The operation was a success now all that was needed was for Shisui to wake up.

Tsunade's eyes narrowly opened, she did not look at Shizune who was standing, or the Shisui on the other futon, and spoke softly.

"The Uchiha kid… his eyes Shizune."

With a somber expression, the medical ninja nodded slowly.

"They eye sockets are empty. Forcefully. The optic nerves were a little damaged but I healed them."

Tsunade sighed softly and muttered, "Good." Her eyes closed again and before Shizune could even react, the sanin was snoring.

"Haiiii…." Shizune laughed a little, staring at Tsunade's sleeping face.

She walked to where Shisui was and observed his face. Her finger lingered to where his eyes once were, she took a complicated expression and wondered to herself.

"Uchiha Shisui…"

What could have happened that caused the ninja in front of her to be in such a sorry state? He was one of the ninjas that were given warning about by other states to flee on sight. A ninja at the pinnacle of all.

'To see such an individual in a manner of being such as this… is pitiful. However the rumors are not wrong, he is very young. Fifteen? Sixteen? That may be how old he is… Not even at the peak of a ninja's true bodily strength.'

Putting one wit at another, she joined pieces of the puzzle exactly like a real ninja.

'Whoever attacked him was after his eyes. There is no doubt about it.'

The poison, the bruises, the eye sockets.

'He probably had one eye stolen while being poisoned unknowingly, when the poison truly came into complete effect it was too late. He had no other option and it seems because of the poison, it was interfering with his state of mind as well. The other eye was probably given away voluntarily. That means it may not have been snatched but rather gifted as a final means. Then immediately after, Shisui Uchiha attempted suicide.'

Ninjas look within the hidden meanings within the hidden meanings.

'The Uchiha clan and the higher-ups of Konoha. Who would do something like this blatantly… hmm…? Danzo. It was probably him. What a shameless person.'

She glanced deeply at Shisui Uchiha's sleeping expression and slowly stood up, a small smile on her face.

"Get better soon, Shisui of the Body Flicker."
