Practice together? Shi Yu glanced at Wind. Did he want to spar with him? While Shi Yu's practice seemed perfect, actual combat was different.
"Brother Swift Wind, you're a Jonin, and I haven't even graduated yet. Isn't it unfair for you to spar with me in swordsmanship?"
Despite Shi Yu's recent improvements, he still had a hint of youthful arrogance, believing he could best Moonlight Wind.
"Relax, we'll spar without using chakra or ninjutsu, just pure swordsmanship," Moonlight Wind assured.
That sounded interesting. If it was only swordsmanship, Shi Yu was intrigued.
The two stood at a distance of ten meters, holding wooden swords in Konoha Ryu swordsmanship stances.
At the same moment, in the Hokage Building, the Third Hokage was contemplating Moonlight Wind's mention of a young prodigy compared to Konoha's White Fang. He hadn't had a chance to see this "little ghost" in person, so he used a voyeur crystal ball to observe Shi Yu.
His telescopic technique was advanced, allowing him to easily view Shi Yu within Konoha's range. However, when he saw Shi Yu and Moonlight Wind preparing to spar, he was taken by surprise.
"Is this boy practicing with him?" the Third Hokage muttered.
Examining Shi Yu's appearance, he noted, "What a handsome young boy. The Moonlight family's genes are strong."
Shi Yu seemed even more promising than Moonlight Wind.
The Third Hokage's keen eyes spotted a subtle difference in Shi Yu's Konoha Ryu swordsmanship stance. While Moonlight Wind's posture was more conventional, Shi Yu held his sword with one hand and placed his other hand at the rear left. It was a small alteration, but it intrigued the Third Hokage.
"Did this kid really only learn Konoha Ryu swordsmanship yesterday?" he wondered.
Moonlight Wind noticed Shi Yu's modification as well but saw it as a sign of arrogance. He planned to launch an attack before Shi Yu could, despite not using chakra or ninjutsu.
However, Shi Yu had something else in mind. He noticed a flaw in Moonlight Wind's Konoha Flow Sword Art and countered it swiftly, using the seventh form of the technique. Moonlight Wind attempted to adjust, but Shi Yu's response was the tenth form of the Konoha Flow Sword Art.
Within three moves, Shi Yu had disarmed Moonlight Wind, leaving the Jonin defeated. All of this was executed using Konoha Ryu swordsmanship, the style that Moonlight Wind excelled in.
In the Hokage's office, the Third Hokage and his advisors watched in astonishment as Shi Yu's swordplay outmatched a Jonin's.
"Shi Yu... truly is a swordsmanship genius," the Third Hokage remarked. "With more training, he could rival the White Fang."
