Chapter 9

Good morning Ademidun, hope I got your name right this time? Yes you did, I replied smiling. Have you seen Dapo today? No I haven't actually. Okay, he will see you later, we have Chemistry now, we will talk later,Ademidun, okay bye, I responded back. Meanwhile that day, I had French theory exam, the week before was the oral exam and it went really smooth, all thanks to the French tutorials I had at home with a church member, I went to her house Sunday evenings for the tutorial and also as a result of the revisions I had with Mrs Aderomu, the French teacher.

After the exam, Dapo came to meet me at the school hall. Dapo why don't you come see me, I am so happy to see you, I said almost hugging him. We went with mummy from court that day, he replied, and I do not have a phone to call you, besides I did not want to disturb your exams. Demi, mum is not as bad as everyone makes it seem, I think you should come see her today when she comes pick me with her driver. While we were discussing Nelson came to the hall as well. Yes I have told you this before, I also think you should talk to her today. Alright I will, I replied back.

Mum came to pick Dapo, like he said she would, I hurried out to meet her. Good Afternoon Ma. Afternoon Demi, I heard you have started your WAEC exam? Yes we have, we are almost done with the exams, I have catering craft left ma. Wow, that's really nice, may the good Lord go before you and your papers and grant you success in all papers. Amen, thank you ma. Mummy would you be changing Dapo and Dolamu's school? No, why would I, your Dad only changed your school because he did not want me coming to see you guys, but I am not like him, in fact he is free to come see them at my place only with my permission of course. Phew, thank you mummy, you know, I was really worried we would not see each other. I told you she is not really what people say she is, Dapo spoke from inside the car. Tell your Dad to bring you to my place this weekend, I want you to see where I stay, you could even spend the weekend. Okay, I will Ma. Mummy, I want you to meet someone, he is a really good friend, I said turning to Nelson, who was peeping from the school gate. Come over, my mum wants to meet you. Hello ma. Hello dear, how are you? I am fine thank you ma. Alright Demi, we have to leave now, but you call me or tell your Dad to bring you to my place. Alright I will. I already had a phone, Dada got me one as a gift for bringing home good results Ss2 third term. After they had left, Nelson and I went back inside the school. Are you happy now? Very, she said she is not going to change their school, I can't wait to tell my Dad when I get home today. Good. I want you to always remain like this and stop keeping to your self. Okay I will try, I replied smiling.

The school was preparing for its inter house sport competition, Ss3 students were allowed to participate in some sporting activities since we were almost finished with our WAEC exams. Nelson, Tayo and I were in Green house. Unlike me, he participated in almost all activities for the house and was even made king, while Tayo was made queen.

Who should we use as queen for the house, we already have Nelson as king? Can't Ademidun be queen, a teacher asked. No, she does not fit that position. I mean she is good but not as queen instead I think Tayo should be made queen, I remember Mrs Mech saying.

Later that evening at home, I spoke to Dada about Mum and pleaded to him to let me go visit them at her place. After much thinking and arguing, he agreed. So later that week I took a few clothes with me to school and spent the weekend at her place. Although where she stayed was quite far from Dada's house. She introduced the neighbours that lived around to us and they were all overwhelmed to see us. Mum then started a dramatic scene of how I did not call to check up on her throughout the years. Mummy I swear, I called you. I used the nurse's phone number to call you, she even said she knows you, that she formerly worked at the family's hospital, besides I did not have a phone then, I said to calm her down. I had to comply with what Nelson had advised me to do whenever I did got the chance to talk and be with my Mum. I apologized still for not calling her as much as I was supposed to. We had the catering craft exam the following week, which concluded our senior waec exams. The inter house sport competition also went well, green house took second position. I also got to meet Nelson's Mum for the first time, he called me to introduce me to her and I did same to him with my Dad. I did not go to school after that instead, I spent about two weeks with Mum, then she allowed Dapo and Dolamu also go spend some weeks at Dada's. I prepared for my entrance exam into the University Of Lagos to study Law at the University.

Moreover, we were done with SS3 and we had our graduation party. Although Praise was given overall graduating student, I was really excited about completing secondary school, I had my makeup done by a friend, Deborah. Dad and Mum spent a whole lot on my dress, heels, hair and jewelleries for the occasion. We took many pictures with friends, teachers and even some of the students. This was the end of a chapter of my life, I was beginning a new chapter of my life.

Difficult Times.
