Isabelle stood on her balcony, overlooking the city. A cool breeze blew through her hair, carrying the scent of the ocean.
She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. The salty air filled her lungs, and she let out a sigh. The capital was a short distance from the sea, and when the wind blew right, the scent of the ocean reached her.
It was out of sight from her balcony, but on a breezy day, with no other distractions, she could still smell it. It brought up pleasant memories from her past life. The smell of the ocean, of salt, the faint hint of fish.
She'd never visited Nevremian docks, not that she could recall, but maybe she ought to soon.
She opened her eyes again, gazing out over the city. It was beautiful, she thought. It wasn't the same beauty that she was accustomed to seeing of cities at night in her past life, with the electronic lights dotting the countryside like land-based stars.
