Once the carriage was ready, the Isabelle rode it to a manor surrounded by a low fence, which was a distance away from the center of the capital, nestled safely at the outskirts. The driver pulled to a halt in front of the manor, helping each of the women off.
Margaret led Isabelle and the doctor through the gates and into the building itself. "I can only pray that Doctor Haynesman can alleviate the suffering of those afflicted..."
Her expression faltered momentarily before resuming a neutral look as she opened the main doors into a lavishly decorated entrance hall.
Doctor Haynesman's frown deepened the farther they ventured into the mansion.
The woman turned her head to meet their gazes briefly as they entered, turning her attention back to the interior as a faint smell of death wafted through the air, followed by sounds of coughing and wheezing.
