She was only too happy to get that stuffy veil off her face as soon as she safely made it back to Caleb's room. She'd been uncertain about whether she'd remember where the secret passage was, or how to get into it without notice, but...
It'd actually been rather easy.
Perhaps it helped that her time running around the palace was considerably shorter than she expected it to be, so her memory was still quite fresh...
But the effect of no one paying attention to her as a maid was indeed quite potent. No one bothered her, no one ever really seemed to look her way, so long as she looked like she was already busy and rushing somewhere.
When she ducked into a small room in a nondescript hallway, there wasn't even anyone around to see her.
Surprisingly, Caleb seemed to be already expecting her when she knocked on the back of the armoire to be let back into his room.
Perhaps his spies had been watching her...?
