I’m the Son of Hades

Haze is a teenage boy who is constantly bullied at school. One day he is approached by the lord of the underworld who tells him he has been chosen to be his heir. Now Haze must accept his fate and help Hades conquer all his enemies This book follows his journey as he navigates the new world of magic he is introduced too and changes from the weak scrawny boy to the strong, all powerful heir of hades. ———————————— NOTE: This book is a medium paced book which means sometimes it will progress rapidly and other times it will seem to crawl but I try my best to balance the speed. The first 18 chapters may drag but I PROMISE FROM chapter 19 it becomes a very interesting read, so stick around, don’t be too quick to judge the book.

I’m bored, Hades!

It had been a month since Haze retrieved Hades' ring from the Red Mountain, Elena had gone back to Mount Olympus and Haze was all alone in the underworld.

Everyday without fail, he got up from bed, picked up his sword and went to the forest in search of beasts to kill so he could level up his attributes.

Everyday, the system gave him a new number of beast monsters he had to kill to complete the daily quest. Haze had reached the number each time without fail and he even surpassed the required number.

When he got home at night, exhausted and completely spent, he'd check his profile and upgrade his attributes by the amount of points he wanted, then he would take a shower and sleep.

This happened until one day, Haze grew bored of the routine. For a month, he had been content with the mindless killing and upgrading his profile because he knew he desperately needed to get better so he wouldn't be outclassed again like he was against the queen of witches.

At the moment, Haze sat at the edge of the bed remembering his mission to retrieve the ring from the Queen of witches. He remembered how he and Elena barely slept as they journeyed back to Haze's palace, scared that the Queen might pop up at anytime.

They had heaved sighs of relief when they left her territory completely but even then, they couldn't afford to sleep completely, it had been done in short bursts and one person had taken watch while the other slept.

Hades wasn't at the castle when they arrived and Haze had been annoyed, he had imagined riding into the castle and triumphantly holding the ring as he walked up to Hades. All that was out of the window now.

He'd gone to risk his life for Hades and he wasn't even around to applaud him.

'You risked your life that he saved', The voice in his head reminded him and Haze angrily shoved it off.

He slept that evening with the ring tucked safely under his bed and when he woke, the first thing he asked the maid who came to attend to him was if Hades was around. She replied in the positive and Haze had jumped out of bed and marched angrily to the throne room.

Hades sat on the throne, his long hair was not tied in a bun and it flowed messily down past his shoulder. Haze noticed that the hair looked shabbier than usual, come to think of it, all of Hades looked shabby.

His eyes had bag under them that showed he must not have slept consistently for three days at least, he was dressed in a sweater that would have looked new if not for the cuts, holes, stains and burn marks that adorned it. Haze's anger melted and was replaced with concern.

Hades was poring over a small book, it's red glossy cover reflected light as he read. He looked up as Haze entered, a tired smile crossed his face.

"I was starting to think you wouldn't come back at all", He teased with his smirk.

Haze didn't return the smile. Earlier he had felt pure anger but now he felt concern.

"You look terrible", He said as he got close to Hades.

Hades' smile faltered. "That's one way to greet someone in the morning", He drawled.

"No, I'm serious", Haze said firmly. "Where have you been?"

"Taking care of business", Hades replied in a bored voice.

"What business?", Haze pressed further.

"So pushy and nosy", Hades replied. "Don't you have a reason for coming here?"

Haze bristled, he didn't like the idea that Hades was hiding something from him, he didn't even like his tone at the moment.

"You said I was your heir", He snapped and pointed at Hades. "What kind of heir doesn't know what goes on in the kingdom?"

He couldn't stop the hurt from flowing into his voice and he blinked, ashamed.

Hades sighed dramatically and leaned forward. "I'm looking for something, an artifact but it's not important to you, that's why I've not told you".

"An artifact?", Haze repeated.

"Yes", Hades said and yawned. "But it's none of your concern, as I said".

"How is it not my concern?", Haze demanded. "Is that where Gatti is?"

Hades frowned. "That will be the last we discuss of the matter. Now that we've settled that, I think you have something for me".

Haze shrugged and brought out the ring, it glittered even in the drab lighting of the throne room.

Hades' eyes twinkled as he looked at it and he smiled.

Haze threw the ring at him. "I still don't know what the fuss about that ring is, it's not even pretty".

"How superficial of you", Hades drawled. "Value is gotten by how useful you are, not by how pretty".

"Is that why you dress yourself in the finest jewelry?", Haze snapped back.

"They are the finest in all of the land aren't they?", Hades said and his lips curved up in a slight smile.

"You've returned my ring, for that I'm grateful. Tell me anything you want and it'll be yours".

Haze looked at him in surprise. "Anything?"

Hades' smile widened. "Or anyone".

The sound of thunder brought Haze out of his reverie, he looked out of the window, a storm was brewing and it would soon start raining, a storm was always brewing here.

He got out of bed and started walking towards the door, he would go to meet Hades and complain to him, he would ask him for a new mission, maybe one not as hard as the last one. He needed to, for his sanity.

The door groaned as he pulled it open and he stepped into the hallway, his footsteps echoed as he briskly walked, his hand on the hilt of his sword.

When he reached the entrance to Hades' palace, he pushed the door open and stepped in but what he saw made him stop walking, his mouth dropped open.

"You?!"
