On this day, Yuga was in the shop, categorizing the incense that Lain had brought, placing them neatly on the counter when a beautifully dressed young girl walked in.
The girl entered the shop, initially looking puzzled, then closed her eyes and took a sniff. She then opened her eyes, clearly surprised, and followed the scent into the shop, stopping at the incense burner placed on the counter by Yuga.
She leaned closer to the incense burner and sniffed carefully. "It smells so wonderful!"
"Thank you for the compliment," Yuga said with a smile, standing nearby.
The girl hadn't noticed that Yuga was right next to her. When she heard Yuga's voice, she startled and then apologized, "I'm sorry."
"Are you interested in incense?" Yuga asked the girl.
The girl nodded and replied, "Yes, I heard that the incense here is of excellent quality, and now it seems even better than I imagined."
Apart from various medicinal herbs, the materials used in YoYo Day Care's incense production, especially the flowers from the Flower Sea Sub-Ecopark, were of much higher quality than those found elsewhere.
Combined with skilled craftsmanship, it was impossible for the incense produced here not to be of high quality.
"Thank you for the praise; it's our aim to satisfy our customers," Yuga said, delighted by the girl's compliments.
The girl then leaned closer to the incense burner again and commented, "Is this flower incense? It has a very pure scent, rich but not overpowering. The quality is truly top-notch."
The girl could discern that this flower incense definitely contained a variety of rare and exotic flowers, although, apart from a few, she couldn't identify the rest.
If one had to find a word to describe this incense, "exquisite" would be the most fitting.
Yuga, surprised by her knowledge, remarked, "It seems like you're quite knowledgeable about incense."
The girl shook her head, saying, "I wouldn't say I'm knowledgeable, but I've smelled a lot of incense, so I've become somewhat familiar with it."
She must be someone who frequently uses incense; she seems affluent, Yuga thought.
"By the way, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Suzuye."
Saying this, the girl seemed to recall something suddenly and slapped her forehead.
Suzuye?
At first mention of this name, Yuga found it vaguely familiar. After a closer look at the girl's appearance, he remembered who she was.
Seeing Yuga staring at her, Suzuye touched her cheek and asked, "Is there something strange on my face?"
Only then did Yuga realize that he had been staring impolitely and hurriedly apologized, "I'm sorry; I suddenly remembered that I've seen you before. You were the runner-up at last year's Grand Festival of Pokémon Contest, right?"
The girl before him was none other than the one who had competed with Robert for victory at last year's Grand Festival of Pokémon Contest, a memory Yuga had just recalled.
Yuga's words left Suzuye momentarily stunned. She hadn't expected that this person had watched her competition. She quickly responded with a hint of embarrassment, "Oh, I see. I must have come across as quite arrogant. I never expected to lose to Robert back then."
During that Grand Festival of Pokémon Contest, Suzuye had entered with confidence in winning, but she ended up losing to Robert. In retrospect, she felt a bit embarrassed about her previous arrogance.
"No, no, not at all," Yuga reassured her. "I think you're really talented. Being the runner-up at The Hoenn Grand Festival of Pokémon Contest is no small feat."
Yuga was not exaggerating; as a Coordinator Trainer, Suzuye was undoubtedly excellent. After all, Robert had only narrowly won at the time.
The Hoenn Grand Festival of Pokémon Contest, as a relatively new competition, was still not fully matured in various aspects, with competitions of this scale relatively small. When Mr. Juan, the current owner of the Sootopolis Gym, was still a Coordinator Trainer, The Hoenn Grand Festival of Pokémon Contest was just a niche competition.
Although it had gradually developed over time, the number of Coordinator Trainers participating was still far fewer compared to traditional Trainers. Therefore, individuals like Robert and Suzuye were truly outstanding, and Wallace, in particular, had reached the pinnacle of the profession in the current stage.
Yuga: "Miss Suzuye, may I introduce you to the different types of incense we have here?"
Suzuye thought for a moment and replied, "I'd like some Sea Incense, Odd Incense, Luck Incense, Rose Incense, and a bit of Full Incense."
Yuga hadn't expected Suzuye to want so many different types of incense, which surprised him. Sea Incense and Rose Incense were effective for Water-type and Grass-type Pokémon, respectively, so he deduced that she probably had these types in her team.
However, Yuga remembered that she had a Clefable and a Gallade. The Odd Incense she wanted was likely for her Gallade, as it was known to enhance meditation abilities and was often used by Psychic-type or Ghost-type Pokémon.
Luck Incense and Full Incense were universal and could be used by Pokémon of any type, so Yuga couldn't guess which Pokémon she intended them for.
Guiding Suzuye to the display of Sea Incense, Rose Incense, Luck Incense, Odd Incense, and Full Incense, Yuga picked out several boxes.
Since the incense was relatively expensive, YoYo Day Care packaged it in special porcelain boxes, which were beautifully designed. The packaging for different types of incense looked similar, with variations in patterns and colors on the porcelain boxes.
Yuga picked up one box of incense and offered it to Suzuye. "Would you like to try it?"
Suzuye, pleasantly surprised, asked, "Can I?"
"Of course!" Yuga replied.
With that, Yuga took out a small burner and opened the box of Odd Incense. Using the provided porcelain spoon, he scooped a small amount of incense into the burner and lit it.
In the shop, the Rose Incense was already burning, so Yuga chose to demonstrate the Odd Incense this time.
As the Odd Incense ignited, wisps of delicate smoke wafted from the burner. Suzuye leaned in to get a closer sniff.
If the characteristic of Rose Incense was described as "exquisite," then Odd Incense could be described as "ethereal." Inhaling its scent felt like ascending to another world, a truly enchanting experience.
"Mr. Shimizu, the incense here is indeed delightful. This Odd Incense is of the same high quality as the Rose Incense I tried earlier," Suzuye praised.
"As long as you're satisfied," Yuga replied. He extinguished the Odd Incense in the burner, as it wouldn't mix well with the lingering aroma of the Rose Incense in the store.
"Do you want to try any of the others?" Yuga continued to inquire.
Suzuye's compliments about the incense made Yuga quite pleased, so he didn't mind going the extra mile to let Suzuye try all the types she wanted.
After trying them, Suzuye was indeed very satisfied with each one. She bought more than a dozen boxes of each type, spending a considerable amount of money.
With one substantial sale, Yuga was in high spirits. He sent Suzuye off with a smile.
"Please do come back to do business with us next time!"
Standing at the door, Yuga shouted to Suzuye.
"Don't worry, Mr. Shimizu! I'll help promote your shop," Suzuye replied with a big smile, clearly very pleased with YoYo Day Care's incense.
