100 years ago, portals appeared introducing new frontiers for humanity. When they explored them, they discovered monster. From cute to horrifying, they all had one thing in common, the ability to cause destruction if ever released. This event caused the world to semi-unite into:

Pacific United- U.S., Canada, South Korea, Australia, Japan, and islands in the Pacific

Estupenda Unida- South America, Central America, Mexico, and islands near America in the Atlantic.

Western United- Europe, (not including parts of Russia), and Africa

Asia- Russia, middle east, and the rest of Asia

These all formed to protect each other using hunters, people who awakens abilities to fight against these monsters. These people can grow stronger using the system that activates when awakened. Now some didn't want to join like North Korea. That is until a portal outbreak happened releasing monster that North Korean hunters couldn't contain resulting in the whole country to become a wasteland. This showed the world how much destruction a mid rank portal can do.

After portals, humanity discovered a new energy. That is what makes portals and awakened hunters. This energy and hunters' abilities helped humanity to soar in technology. Not in things like easy off world colonization, but in things like machine used for evaluating hunters.

Noah waited in line for hours to finally get his turn to be evaluated.

"just sit in the machine." the lady operating the machine says. Her job wants here to smile and talk politely to customers, but dealing with nearly thousands of people every day, would make any sane person unenthusiastic. Especially with many who end up not being awakened throwing fits. While waiting, Noah saw one guy be dragged out yelling he is the chosen one and that the machine is broken. Noah looked at the machine, it is an almost cylinder like shape pod, with a translucent, almost opaque, glass like window on the door. The rest is white with black accent giving it a sci-fi vibe. Noah sat down in the machine and it closed shut. soon the window started lighting up showing messages.
