Cato awoke and sat up. His head felt heavy. Looking around he found himself in a cave of some kind. Braziers lit the surrounding walls. Pictures and scenes were carved into them and died with woad. The deep blue hue caught the light of the fire beautifully.

“You have finally come back to us,” A familiar voice called out, echoing through the cave. “Many thought you wouldn’t have made it, being dragged by that madman through the snow.”

Cato focused. He knew this voice. The all-knowing tone of utmost importance, always demanding respect and admiration.

“Father?” Cato looked around for any sign of Costa.

“The gods must be smiling upon you, my son, to think we would have found favorable passage through Lindum only to be stranded by a blizzard. It was as though all hope was lost until we found this cave sanctuary,” Costa continued. “And the host that came with it.”
