An Imp!

Sitting in class, Loki looked at the man in front of the class, it was the first time in a while Loki had attended the DADA class.

The teacher was present in the class and frankly, his teaching style was fantastic, it focused on more practicalities than on just textbook theory as Quirrell did.

As such there was currently an Imp trapped inside a cage in the centre of the classroom where everyone could see it.

"The Imp is a magical creature."

A series of ooh's and ahh's followed as everyone watched the stocky creature jumping inside the cage indignantly working tirelessly to try and free itself like a monkey.

"In a moment, the Imp will be released upon you and all of you will at once will try and protect yourselves. If you can, I will award each student who does the knockback jinx successfully a point for their house."

Another series of ooo's and aaaa's followed as all the kids grew in enthusiasm.

"But before we start, let's have a dry run to practice casting the spell, come on! Wave your wands at ready and say 'Flipendo' with a flick of your wand at go!"

"Remember to keep the clear intent of knocking back your target when you cast the spell!"

"Ready!"

The students gathered courage, and pointed their wands in front of them, taking care not to point them at one another, and when John said "Go!" every student in the room voiced a resounding shout of Flipendo.

"Flipendo!"

A series of colourful sparks left each student's wands, some even at the professor himself but he simply flicked his stick to create a translucent white shield in front of himself and stopped anything from reaching him.

"It seems like some students were a little too excited and decided to launch spells at me, but unfortunately for them, I will have to deduct points for their behaviour, so fifteen points from Slytherin and ten from Gryffindor." the professor said, much to the anger of a few Gryffindor and Slytherin students.

"Alright-kids! Now get ready!"

The students primed their wands with spirituality once again and when they looked ready, Professor John waved his wand, causing the lock on the cage to fly open and the Imp in it to be set loose.

"Fipendo!" A shout was heard and a red beam of light flew through the air as it targeted the Imp, but before it could reach the Imp it ducked and rolled, easily emerging within the crowd of students!

The move set off panicked shouts of "Flipendo!" which instead of striking the Imp hit all the other students, causing a few to become dizzy and collapse and others to even fly back and take other students with them to the ground.

The imp jumped round wildly and everyone cast spells wildly like it was some sort of shootout.

The only ones remaining on their feet soon were, Draco, Hermione, Loki, Harry and Daphne.

And of course the fantastical Imp.

Everyone wordlessly acknowledged their presence working together to keep the Imp surrounded so that it couldn't escape or break the encirclement.

Harry was the first to start after, "Flipendo!"

The Imp dodged the spell and stepped into a mad dash towards Harry on all its limbs running like a big cat.

As soon as it got a little closer, Hermione and Daphne both shot the Flipendo Jinx at the position where the Imp would be in a second, but it expertly jumped over them and landed right on Harry's torso.

Draco cast another Flipendo along with Harry who cast it by bringing his wand right up to the Imp's head but the Imp expertly dodged the blows and snaked its way behind Harry pulling on his hair to move him in the way of Draco's Flipendo, causing him to get knocked out.

The Imp then jumped and ran towards Draco and tripped him by pulling his robes and swinging around his feet on them, throwing away Draco's wand the Imp left only Hermione, Daphne and Loki still standing.

Making Daphne its next target, the imp rushed like fire towards her, making use of the bodies on the ground to dodge the jinxes Daphne threw at it.

Using the stomach of a particularly floaty student the imp shot outwards like a bolt until it landed right on Daphne's head. But unexpectedly it seemed Daphne had already seen this happening.

Hermione flicked a Flipendo out of her wand and Daphne swung her head low to bring the imp in its path.

*SCREAAAACHHHH*

The imp instantly made a jump away from Daphne's head and landed on Hermione's head instead.

Daphne managed to dodge Hermione's jinx which had missed the imp and was headed towards her but the imp pulled Hermione's hair and caused her to stumble over one of the bodies of the students and fall onto Daphne, taking the two of them down at once.

Now there was only one student left standing in class, Loki.

Making Loki its target the Imp set off in a run as it did its best to reach Loki as it jumped over and under all the jinxes he threw at it.

The imp suddenly and unexpectedly attacked Loki by throwing Malfoy's wand which it had picked up on the way but Loki snatched it from the air and when the imp jumped onto him, Loki jabbed the wand into the Imp's nose and made eye contact with it as it pretended to be as innocent as a baby.

*whine* *whine*

"Hehehe~ no way am I going to let you go…"

*whine* *whin-*

"Flippendo!!!"

The Imp's head glowed white from the bright light emitted from Loki's spell and launched into the ceiling before it collapsed onto the ground with enough force to raise a little dust.

"Although you executed the spell inefficiently, that was a wonderful performance Mr. Loki." Professor John said with a soft clap that initiated a round of applause from all the students who were on the floor.

Professor John then pulled the Imp and threw it back in the cage without care for the creature and spoke to everyone, "I hope everyone present has learnt that even creatures that appear as defenceless as the Imp can be a pain to fight if one is not properly prepared with knowledge about what they are facing. So I hope everyone takes the upcoming classes seriously."

Everyone nodded since most students had experienced first had how rough such fights could get.

"And for successfully fighting off the Imp twenty points to Slytherin because of Mister Loki and five points each to Slytherin and Gryffindor for Miss Daphne and Miss Hermione to have put up a fight."

Everyone shot envious glances at the trio but Hermione was still envious of Loki.

"Then that will be all, class is dismissed." Professor John said and walked away into his office room, shutting the door before any other student could ask him a question.

Loki walked out of the class, he was tired of holding himself back throughout the lesson, he wanted to do nothing other than jump Professor John or Mr. A and reveal to everyone he was a corpse-eating cannibalistic crazy Psychopath who had found his way into the school.

'I want to stay away from him, but doing so without raising suspicion is going to be difficult.'

'What is he here for anyway?'

'He could just be here for me, or more precisely the ring, but is there truly no other motive?'

'Is he here for whatever Fluffy is guarding?'

'But then 'Adam' should also know about it so why did he let him in?'

'To make the task for his protagonist a little more difficult?'

'Or is 'Adam' trying to make me a part of the story?'

'What is everyone's true aim then?'

'In any case, I should prepare myself for whatever comes my way. I better start practising live combat.'

'But how will I do that? Forbidden forest?'
