Chapter 149: Guidance

There are actually two causes for all tools with a lifespan.

The first reason is the issue with the materials used in their production.

For example, regular Invisibility Cloaks are made from the fur of the Demiguise.

When the Demiguise dies, the fur of the cloak eventually loses its invisibility.

Even Wizards can slow down this process during production, but they can't make it last forever.

The second reason is that the Runes are damaged.

Every time a spell is cast on an Invisibility Cloak, it causes some damage to the rune circuit.

When the damage reaches a certain level, the Runes stop working, making the Invisibility Cloak useless.

However, Arthur has his own methods that can help with some of these problems.

But he wouldn't just share them freely; he only shows slightly more advanced techniques than the current magical world possesses.

Arthur smiled slightly and said, "Sir, have you ever considered adding cooling Runes to the design?"

"Cooling?"

The white-haired elder was puzzled, wondering what Arthur meant by cooling.

Arthur knew that mere words weren't convincing enough, so he directly used his wand to sketch a magical rune in the air.

Fudge opened his mouth to tell Arthur that he couldn't use magic outside of school because he wasn't old enough, but he changed his mind.

When the elder saw it, it was a set of runes for the Shield Charm, similar to the ones used on Shield Cloaks, but Arthur's set of Runes was more

complicated.

"I added several stabilizing and repairing enchantments to each node of the circuit. This way, every time the spell is cast, it forms a protective shield around the node, greatly extending its lifespan. Also..."

Arthur pointed his wand at the Runes in the air and continued to explain.

The white-haired elder's eyes sparkled as he listened.

Not only he but many other people in the room were fascinated.

Some people pulled out parchment and quills to write down what Arthur was saying.

When Arthur finished his speech, there was a round of enthusiastic applause.

Arthur's creative ideas impressed everyone.

Based on what they figured out, if they used Arthur's way, Shield Cloaks would last at least twice as long.

Arthur bowed slightly to express his gratitude to everyone around him, then returned to his seat.

He came here today to make a great first impression, and so far, it seems to be working. The white-haired elder also looked at Arthur gratefully.

During the free exchange session, he decided to have a proper conversation with Arthur.

If he were to use Arthur's method for his business without telling the original creator, It would damage his image with everyone in the circle.

The point of the conference was to share ideas, but that didn't mean that everyone had to share everything they had learned.

If someone helped you with their ideas, you had to show some sincerity in return.

The conference continued with one weird question after another, raised by alchemists from all over the world.

Arthur didn't try to get even more attention. He knew that too much of anything could be dangerous.

However, Arthur still paid close attention to what everyone said.

Some of the problems others brought up were easy for him to solve, but listening to others' perspectives could also inspire him.

The conference went on until the evening, and there were many questions and even some heated debates about who was correct.

Two people were so close to getting into a fight that other people had to pull them apart. Arthur was a little disappointed as he watched the show.

"Is it always like this?"

Arthur asked Nicolas in secret because he couldn't believe these two were the best alchemists in the world.

Nicolas chuckled and shook his head.

"It used to be even worse. I remember fifty years ago, two people actually fought, and one of them was seriously injured."

"Since then, people have acted with a lot more restraint. Even if they fight, they can control themselves."

Arthur listened with his mouth open in shock.

So, this is what they mean by "If I can't persuade you with words, I'll persuade you with a fist."

After the first day of the conference, it was time for the evening banquet.

Arthur had to admit that the food in France was much better than in England.

French-style escargots, foie gras, lamb chops...

Arthur enjoyed the meal a lot.

Even though the house-elves at Hogwarts could make great meals from around the world, they couldn't make real French food.

Fleur watched Arthur with admiration in her eyes.

She had already learned about Arthur's impressive performance at the conference.

Arthur enjoyed this feeling.

Who wouldn't want their girlfriend, fiancée, and the person they admire most to be themselves?

Arthur also asked Fleur about their side of things.

"It's nothing special. Mrs. Perenelle introduced me to some people, but we didn't talk much. It was mostly about clothes and bags, which I know you're not interested in."

Arthur couldn't help but feel speechless.

Were witches in the wizarding world also unable to resist the allure of clothes and handbags?

After the banquet, there was actually a small cocktail party, but Arthur used his age as an excuse not to go.

If the daytime was a gathering for alchemists to exchange ideas, then the evening belonged to politicians like Fudge.

Most of the wizards who could afford alchemy were wealthy and had a lot of power in the magical world.

Politicians needed these events to meet more people and build their connections.

Arthur had no interest in these matters. He only wanted to be famous and influential. He didn't want the trouble of being in politics.

The summit lasted only two days.

The next morning would be the show of works, and the afternoon would be a time for free exchange.

And then it would be over.

The show of works was the part Arthur valued the most.

Although today's cooling Runes were already impressive, they weren't enough to really change anything.

That's why Arthur planned to reveal Kevin's existence to the whole world the next day, making him famous all over the world.
