Chapter 2. The New Student 2

"Kenji let's go have lunch"Sakura spoke.

"Ok, I'm on my way"Kenji responded.

Sakura took his hand in hers and was about leaving with him when they were suddenly stopped by a boy who looked their age.

"Kurusu-san, Yasuda-kun, I apologize for not introducing myself sooner. My name is Akimitsu Yoshikawa and I'm the class rep"He looked like some average student, like everybody else so Sakura assumed he could cause no harm but the way he kept repositioning his specs made her uncomfortable around him.'He's probably an otaku'

"Hello class rep, I was wondering who it was since we got here"Kenji said "Is something the matter though?"

"Um not really, it's just that Haruka-sensei has asked me to show you both around the school so could you kindly wait after school?"

"Sure, we were also hoping to find someone who could show us around"

"I would be glad to"

"If that's all we'll be going now"

"Hold on Yasuda-kun"

"What is it class rep?''

Akimitsu paused for a sec, then he bowed his head.

"Class rep? What are you doing?"

"Thank you Yasuda-kun"

"Why are you thanking me?"

"For standing up to Botan"

"Um..Is it really that big a deal?"

"Yes it is Yasuda-kun toady you really did us a huge favor"

"Not sure that's that I'd call a favor though"

"We've been under Botan's oppression for a very long time and there's been nothing we could do to make it stop. Anyone who tried to stand up to then always ended up getting trashed, Even the teachers could do nothing"Akimitsu explained "As the class rep I've always wanted to protect my classmates but I was powerless. I express my gratitude from deep within my heart, thank you once again"

"Pls stop it class rep"

Sakura leaned on Kenji's shoulder and whispered to him "I'll be waiting by the downstairs by the stairs"She said and walked away as soon as she said it. Akimitsu received the message immediately. "By any chance am I disturbing you?"

"Not at all"

"But..."

"Her? she's just really pissed off about what Botan did. She really hates it when other guys touch her"

"If that is so then I shall excuse you. See you around Yasuda-san"

"See you around Yoshikawa-san"

"One more thing Yasuda-san"

"What is it?"

When Kenji got down the stairs he met Sakura standing there just like she said she would.

"I thought you would have gone off by now"Kenji said.

"Can you try not to get on my nerves?"

"I don't get why you're still mad. You should be over it by now "

Sakura was fuming. "That ugly boar,how dare he touch me"

"Can you really call him ugly though?"

A group of five girls approached both of them.

"Hi Yasuda-san"

Hi...um..."

"Remi"

"...Remi-chan,you're in our class right?"

"Yes, the five of us are"

"Is anything the problem?"

"No,we were just wondering you wouldn't mind us stealing Kurusu-san for this lunchbreak"

Sakura who didn't seem to be paying them any attention suddenly went on high alert when she heard Remi's statement. She wanted to object but Kenji held her hand to make her stay quiet.

"Sure I don't mind"

"Great. Kurusu-san would you like to join us for lunch?"

"Sure, why not?"Sakura replied.

"I'm so glad, I thought you would say no"

"Why would I say that?"

"Ok Sakura, go make some friends and stop hovering around me all the time"Kenji said to make his intentions clear to her.

"Kenji" She said through gritted teeth.

"Go on now Sakura"He smiled.

"Let's go Kurusu-san"Remi said and she took Sakura's hand and pulled her along to the cafeteria.

"I guess it's just me today"Kenji said to himself as he watched the six girls going toward the cafeteria"

"Cosmo what are you doing here?"

Kenji looked to the right and saw two boys from his class coming to him. They went by the names of Senku Aburaya and Yuki Adachihara. Senku was a bit tall and looked athletic while Yuki was just Kenji's height and had an average body.

"Ah Senku,Yuki"

"Aren't you going to have lunch?"

"I will... but I don't know the way" 'I didn't want it to seem like I couldn't let go of Sakura so I didn't follow them so now I'm stranded' He thought.'Good thing they're here'

"It's a really big school, isn't it?" Yuki said.

"Come on we'll show you the way"Senku added.

Kenji smiled "Thanks"

When Kenji got to the cafeteria he immediately noticed that something was off and he knew what it was but decided to be quiet.

"What are you going to have Cosmo?" Senku asked.

"Me? I think I'll try out the rice and curry" Kenji replied.

"Really?, we also came to get some rice and curry"

"We have to get to the line quick or we won't be able to get any" Yuki said.

"This way Cosmo"

As they waited in line Kenji grew uncomfortable and he let his curiousity take the reins."Senku"

"Yes Cosmo?"

"Why is the cafeteria divided into two?and why are those students in red uniforms not black and white?I don't think I recall any of the students wearing red uniforms"

Truly, just as he said the cafeteria had two parts the students in black and white on one side and the students in red on another.

"Those guys... they're the elite students of the school or so the members of staff say"Senku said."I don't believe those words"

"Me neither"Yuki said "The bullies don't dare to pick on anyone in red uniforms. There was a rumor that they all practice martial arts"

"Even the girls?"

"Yeah, they're all really strong"

"Are they considered elite right from when they're enrolled?"

"No, every time someone joins the school they are tested but as far as I know you won't be considered elite just by grade. Didn't you take the test?"

"No but I and Sakura have a test tomorrow, I think it's that test you're talking about"

"You'll have a written test and a physical test"

"So if I'm not chosen as an elite tomorrow then that's it?"

"Not actually, they give the students tests for every two months for elites. Only few pass this test and sometimes no one passes the test"

"A test that isn't based on academic capability,what exactly could be going on with these elites?"

"Last year there was a boy in our class who was the worst in academics but he was the only in our class who became an elite" Yuki said.

"Well it doesn't matter if I become an elite or not"

"What if Kurusu-chan became an elite and you didn't?"

Kenji was silent for a bit "If she became an elite and I didn't...then there's nothing I can do"

"If there's something I know about these elites, it's that we average students and them don't mix"

"All their info is kept under lock and key so even the teachers on this side of the school don't know much about them"
