the attack pt. 9: face off

im standing on the battlefield, mayumis headband is no longer on my head, but i feel strong.

"ibuki!" its jeikus voice, jeiku and fuya are running towards me

"you two survived" im relieved. "is it just us?"

"no theres a handful of survivors but theyre safe now" fuya says and i feel happy, for the first time since mayumi died i feel happy. "we came back because we came here as a team and we're going to beat shadow as a team"

"how adorable" the 3 of us turn and yori and moritomo are standing there.

"this is it" jeiku mutters

"you ready?" jeiku and fuya nod. butchers kunai zooms towards us but jeiku catches it in mid air

"is this the best you got" he says, he yanks the kunai and butcher stumbles forward, jeiku throws a chakra kunai at butcher and it makes direct contact with his forehead, butcher falls backwards spread eagle on the ground, jeiku killed butcher in one attack.

"Nooo!!!" yori shrieks, i take this opportunity to rush forwards, i draw my sword and go directly for the kill aiming for yoris heart. she disappears and i slide past where she was. yori pops out of my shadow and i slice through the air but she disappears again.

"goddamn it! fight me for real you bastard!" yori appears directly in front of me and punches me right in the nose, i can feel it break and blood flows freely. and then out of the corner of my eye i see butcher rising out of a shadow behind fuya, the butcher that jeiku "killed" was a fake.

"fuya!" i yell out but its too late, butchers kunai stabs through fuyas back and through her stomach. in this moment the world goes red and all that is in focus is butcher, i feel rage rising through my body. im going to kill butcher im going to avenge fuya, thats all that matters.

the next few moments are a blur, all i know is im killing butcher. when my vision goes back to normal i see butcher or what was left of him, his face is now a bloody pulp and his throat is torn out, i look at my hands, theyre broken. i killed butcher. i continued the cycle of revenge by killing him.
