Still 'just friends'?

"I'm so exhausted. I just want to shower and go to bed," James said tiredly while closing his eyes and spreading his arms on the bed.

"Me too," Mira said, feeling the same way. She was both physically and mentally exhausted.

"Do you want to shower together?" James asked as he turned to look at her.

Mira looked at him too, hoping to find him smiling the way he usually did when he was joking, but he was not smiling. He was just looking at her.

It made her heart skip several beats before she looked away from him and up at the ceiling, and then she began to laugh.

"Nice joke."

"What? You don't want to?" James asked, smiling now.

She turned to look at him, grinning as she said,

"You want us to shower together in your family house. With your family present?"

"You should like you'd have agreed had we had the privacy." He teased.

"Who knows? Maybe?" She shrugged.
