I'm Sorry

"Kyle?" A soft voice said in more a questioning tone.

Kyle didn't think as he jumped out of his seat and hugged her tight. Jess was caught off guard with the sudden hug. The moment she heard him crying on her shoulder, she broke down in tears herself. She wrapped her weak arms around him crying in his shoulder.

"Kyle.. I can't believe your here.."

"Why wouldn't I?"

"I.... don't know, I would have expected my sister more than anyone else."

"Jess, I..." He backed away from the embrace. "I'm so sorry I didn't believe you. I feel like such a dick."

"Kyle.. it's okay."

"It's not.. I owe you my life. You don't deserve to be in this bed."

"I told you what the plan was. I was expected to still be at that horrid place. I didn't think the plan would change to something where we all made it out."

"I know.. I... I don't want to imagine you being there right now."

Jess looked away. "Me either..."

Kyle grabbed her hand while looking down at her as he was currently standing near the bed. He squeezed her hand causing her to look up at him.

"Thank you.. for giving my life back." He said.

Jess smiled sweetly. "You deserve it Kyle."

"You deserve it too."

"Kyle.. I'm sorry I was so reckless, talking about staying there and letting you all leave. I know you didn't want to hear that plan. I just.. wanted to save you three at any cost."

"Why us and not yourself?"

"It's just who I am.. I love helping others. I will never forget what happened."

"Yeah... Tyler would be so happy knowing we made it." Kyle said while looking down at their hand.

At that moment Jess couldn't hold back ugly tears as she thought back on Tyler. "I killed him.. It was all my fault." She cried.

"Jess.."

"You said it yourself Kyle.. I killed him. He would still be alive if it wasn't for me."

Kyle grabbed both her arms while pulling her in a powerful embrace. "Jess.. He was a good kid, it was his choice to go in your room and make sure you had a meal. You comforted him when no one else would, you didn't kill him. You made him feel what he hadn't felt in so long... Love."

Jess cried more while hugging Kyle tight. Kyle softly stroked her hair as he wanted to comfort her in this distressing time.

"Kyle.. What are we going to do? Now that.. we escaped?"

Kyle pulled away with his arms still wrapped around her looking deep in her eyes. She looked up in his eyes realizing he didn't answer but instead looked down at her lips then back to her eyes. Her heart leaped as she saw him lean in breaking the small distance from their lips. She closed her eyes melting in the kiss. When they both pulled away, they both breathed out while admiring the other.

"I know what I want." He simply said while grabbing her hands.

She smiled sweetly while placing her hands on his face. "I do too."
