She began her new day standing up, surrounded by cold darkness and stale, dusty air.

The panicked screams of everyone in that room pierced the air like broken shards of broken glass, echoing off the walls of that cramped container. Some clawed at the walls, desperate to escape, while her. She pulled her legs up tight against her body, hoping her eyes would soon adjust to the darkness.
