Chapter 13

"hey are you okay?" Midnight asked when he opened the door for me.

"I-I'm just nervous" I said and heaved a sigh.

"I told you, there's nothing to worry about. Come on love, they are already waiting inside, or do you want to go home now? " he asked and touched my hair.

"no. they are already expecting us. We can't let your parents down just because of my shyness" I said and heaved a sigh again.

"That's my girl. Let's go inside now." He said and offered me his hand. I accepted it and smiled at him.

"do I look okay? Should I put a lipstick?" I asked him while we are walking because I just put on a lipbalm. Seb already went inside awhile ago because Midnight said so.

"babe, you are beautiful, you don't need that but If you want, I'll accompany you in the restroom" he suggested but I just shook my head.

" alright, I won't put a lipstick.I'll just keep it simple." I said and chuckled. He smiled at me and put his arm on my waist and walked towards the restaurant.

We went straight to a separate room where we saw Midnight's parents laughing while chatting with Seb. Their gaze landed on us when Midnight opened the door.

"Mom, dad" Midnight greeted and walked me towards his family. His mom went straight to me and hugged me.

"Nice to finally meet you Elise" her mom exclaimed while hugging me tightly that put a smile on my face.

"Nice to meet you too Ma'am" I said and hugged her back. I saw Midnight smiling at me proudly like he's saying that 'I told you'.

"ma'am? Call me mom Elise, welcome to the family" she said and looked at me. "you look so beautiful" she added and smiled at me widely.

"thank you m-mom. You look fabulous also" I replied.

"Nice to meet you Elise" Midnight's dad said and offered me his hand.

"nice to meet you too sir" I said and accepted his hand.

"you called my wife, mom, you should call me dad Elise" he said and laughed.

"of course d-dad" I said and chuckled.

"Hi, I'm Mary, nice to meet you" Night's younger sister said and hugged me. "I heard so much about you. Thank you for making my older brother happy and welcomed here in Liechtenstein."

"it's my pleasure to make him happy" I replied and looked at Midnight who is happily looking at us.

"I'm Knight. Nice to meet you" a guy who looked like Midnight but younger a younger version.

"nice to meet you Knight" I said and accepted his hands.

"Mom, El prepared a gifts for you guys" Midnight interrupted and handed them my gifts.

"I hope you like it" I shyly said and hold onto Midnight's hand who just smiled at me to assure me.

"where did you get this? It's hard to look for this" she asked while looking at Tom Dixon – Fire Scented Candle and Missoni – Gomitolo Purple Wax Candle .

"my mother's friend owns a candle shop and I desperately asked her to sell it to me. She said that it's hard to find that, that's why she doesn't want to sell it but I guess she changed her mind because of my persuasiveness."I said and chuckled.

"thank you Elise." Mom said and kissed me on my cheeks.

"Pinot noir? I had it before and it's really good. You have a great taste Elise." Dad said while looking at the wine.

"My dad chose that and told me that it's good that's why he gave me that and he hoped that you'll like it."

"We should meet with your parents soon. I'll have a drink with your father" he said but mom pinched his sides that made him groan.

"on a second thought, we should just have a dinner together" he said that made us laugh.

"enough with the chitchat. Let's eat, the food is already waiting" Mom said and pulled me towards her side while Mary sat on my other side. Midnight sat infront of me together with Seb and his brother while dad sat at the head of the table.

"I liked the painting, thank you" Mary said and showed me the painting I gave her.

"you're welcome. You brother told me that you are into arts just like him. and when I saw that painting, my instinct told me that you'll like it" I said while smiling at her.

"what do you want Elise?" mom asked beside me and tried to put food on my plate but Midnight snatched it from her hands.

"mom, you should eat to. I'll take care of my girl" Midnight said and put rice on her mom's plate before putting on mine.

"oh son, you are here?" his mom joked because since we got here, I'm the only one they talked to.

"yes mom. I guess you love Elise more than me" Midnight said and shook his head in disbelief.

"of course. She is your first girlfriend, that's why I'm so happy that you let us meet her." she said and held my hand.

"you know, when my son calls me at night, he talks about you every time." his mom whispered at me but I guess Midnight heard it because he shook his head while smiling. He's filling my plate with foods that I like.

"mom is right. He always talks about you and how much he loves you, how much he wants to marry you in the future." Mary said that made me smile and look at Midnight who is avoiding my gaze now while his ears are red.

"It's fine, I want to marry him too, in the future"

When I woke up I saw Dr. Ana talking to my parents. When mom saw me awake she immediately walked towards me and stopped me from moving.

"how are you? you slept again for 2 days" she said worriedly.

"I'm fine mom. J-just a l-little thirsty" I said and dad hurriedly helped me to sit. He handed me a water and helped me drink.

"what are you feeling right now Elise? Did you remember something?" Dra. Ana sadi beside me.

"my head feels heavy and yes, I remember something" I answered when I finished the whole bottle of water.

"I remembered his family but I can't get a hold of his face. I just saw his smile" I said while stopping my tears from streaming down.

"you r-remember them n-now?" mom asked that made me looked at her.

"mom can't you just let me see his face for once? I want to remember everything. You need to help me remember everything. Stop hiding me in the dark" there, I snapped. After how many years of stopping myself to force them help me get my memories back, I snapped.

"can't you see what happened to you? You fell asleep for 4 days now, your memories are coming back why don't you just wait? I'm just worried about you, you are the only one we have." Mom said and burst into crying. dad immediately hugged her and signalled me to shut up.

"your mom is right. You should not force yourself to remember everything. It's coming back, maybe in the next few days you'll be able to remember everything" Dra. Ana said. "does it hurts?" she asked and I just shook my head.

"alright, I already prescribe you the meds you need to take. I explained it to your parents already, make sure to eat now before you take that. After you rest i want you to tell me everything you remember. We need to find out what triggers it. Excuse me, I have other patients"

"thank you doc" I said and lie down on my bed and closed my eyes. I still don't feel good and the lights worsen it that's why I decided to close my eyes. I heard the door closed and I felt someone sat beside me.

"I'm sorry Elise. I just don't want to see you hurt. Mommy's doing this for your own sake" I heard mom said and left. When I opened my eyes I just saw dad who is arranging my food.

"I'm sorry dad. I just snapped" I said 'cause I know that he doesn't like the way I talked to mom a while ago.

"we understand where you are coming from so don't worry about it. You're mom will just get a fresh air and she'll be back" he said and helped me sit to eat.

"you should eat so that you can drink your medicines" he said and handed me a spoon.

"I remembered them dad. Their faces that night they first met me. the way they welcome me in their family. The way Midnight smiled at me and told me that I look good, that I can do it, that there's nothing to worry about" I said while letting my tears fall.

"can you tell me where they are? Did we break up before I got into the accident? Can I talk to Seb? Why is he mad at me? why won't he talk to me? " I said and buried my face on my palm. I felt dad's hand patting my shoulder.

" everything's gonna be alright sweetie. Sush now, I'm here" I heard him said and hugged me tight but that's not enough. I want to know everything. It's frustrating that I feel like they are keeping my memories from me.

"dad please. I just want to know where Midnight is" I begged and hugged him tightly but his answer made my heart sunk.

"he's dead. Midnight is dead sweetie"
