If you're reading this tale for action, look for another book. If you picked it up thinking there was some daring knight out to save a princess then yet again you choose wrong. This is simply my memoir of events during a time I frankly wish I wasn't alive. I wasn't the hero I always thought I'd be. One could easily say I was the villain. Grand villain would be going too far but I simply kept winding up in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I met the sick and twisted God that made our world into some survival video game. Honestly, I may be into women but there's something about that God-like energy... I digress.
Just like every story there needs to be a beginning. Mine is simple. I was a nobody. I simply clocked into a normal 9-5 that I hated. Would go home, eat, sleep, and repeat. I imagine any reading this with memories from before could relate.
I was simply sitting at my desk when poof we were all gone. Nothing dramatic, no eye in the sky, and scary voice. Just a plain and simple poof.
We all started in the same place. A dark room with text in front of our faces. Everyone was alone in the decision-making process, but after listening to thousands of these tales it gets old.
I awoke to a simple word "Manager". I was never one of those, but I read the word aloud. The words faded away and were replaced with a simple "Y/N".
I remember being confused out of my mind I couldn't see anything for everything else was pitch black. I couldn't feel anything as well. My senses were all but lost. I looked back at the selection and tried to say yes but nothing came out of my mouth. Still, that eerie sense that the only thing in existence were those words.
The Y/N began to fade away again. Then it was replaced with a lottery wheel. I could see symbols on the seven individual wheels but none of them made any sense. It was an entirely different language altogether.
The wheels slowly started spinning while making the normal lottery sound effects. They ominously started stopping one at a time. I'm not sure if it was deliberate but they seemed to be slower the further it went.
"Congratulations! You have been selected as a player. Progressing you to the next stage."
With that, my vision once again went dark. I couldn't tell how long had passed until finally I could see a faint light start in the distance. It was growing and growing until my whole world was pure white. The light dimmed down and I was standing in a forest.
"Welcome to the Forest of Trials"
The words had returned but this time my body was fully back in my control.
