Chapter 2: First Performance (End)

"Walking down 29th and Park... I saw you in another's arms...Only a month we've been apart...You look happier.."

"Saw you walk inside a bar he said somethin' to make you laugh...I saw that both your smiles were twice as wide as ours, Yeah, you look happier, you do.."

"That's just sad ya know? He can't move on." Hannah commented, quickly she took out a powder from her purse to refresh her makeup.

"Wow this you understand, and what are you doing?" Jane with a disgusted look asked.

"I'm freshening up, don't want to look ugly like you. Besides we are going on dates, don't want to look like an ugly bitch." Hannah with a cheeky smile raised her index finger pointing at Jane.

While her two friends were busy arguing with one another, Alexa listened attentively to the performance.

"While Ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you, but ain't nobody love you like I do..."

"Promise that I will not take it personal, baby...If you're movin' on with someone new. 'Cause baby you look happier, you do, my friends told me one day I'll feel it too and until then I'll smile to hide the truth but I know I was happier with you.."

'Just how much heartbreak did he encounter to write this song?' Alexa questioned in her head. 

Two of the music the busker performed were heart-wrenching. But the crowd who listened to his music could understand and sympathize with the performer. They were deeply infatuated with the music and the meaning of the lyrics.

"Sat in the corner of the room...everything's reminding me of you...Nursing an empty bottle and telling myself you're happier, aren't you?."

"Oh, ain't nobody hurt you like I hurt you, But ain't nobody needs you like I do, I know that there are others that deserve you..But my darlin', I am still in love with you.."

Despite knowing that the woman he loves is already with someone else, the man finds it difficult to move on. He is still holding onto his feelings for her. The new man in the woman's life treats her better than he did, and seeing her happy with him, the man can only wish her well and be happy for her. 

"But I guess you look happier, you do..,My friends told me one day I'll feel it too I could try to smile to hide the truth but I know I was happier with you.."

"Cause baby, you look happier, you do I knew one day you'd fall for someone new...But if he breaks your heart like lovers do Just know that I'll be waitin' here for you."

As the song ended, applause was heard from the crowd. Many tourists and bystanders immediately gave some tips. To Ethan's surprise, the hat was already full of dollars and coins.

Ethan bowed his head to show gratitude. 'Hu...That was my first performance, luckily it went well.'

As the crowd finally dispersed. Ethan put down his guitar, wiped the sweat on his forehead, and drank lukewarm water. 

'Though it was only two songs, my throat feels dry..' 

After drinking water, Ethan immediately packed his guitar and tips. He already counted the money, he had a whopping 150 dollars plus the coins on his first performance.

Ethan with his money immediately goes to the supermarket to buy the necessary ingredients. 

The system was given to Ethan when he transmigrated into his new body. His original name was Kim Yohan, a twenty-two-year-old college student. The world he is currently inside of is a parallel version of Earth. This parallel earth has a different course of history than the one Ethan knows.

Before the original owner of the body died, he had one wish that was left unfulfilled. That wish was to become a successful singer, thus when Ethan arrived in this new world with his new body, the system's first objective was to achieve the original owner's dying wish.

Thus, Kim Yohan, now Ethan Patel has to finish the original owner's wish.

"Hah...I miss Korean noodles.." Ethan bitterly sighed.

After buying the ingredients, Ethan went home to his small apartment. A one-bedroom and one-bathroom apartment. But it was enough for him to survive since the original owner didn't graduate and relied on part-time jobs.

Though he wished to become a singer, the original owner wasn't that confident in his talent which was true. The original owner's vocal was at D-, but after Yohan's soul merged with the new body the vocals from Yohan and Ethan mixed thus becoming a C grade.

"I earned quite good, but since this small apartment charges 1,500 dollars a month, I think I have to work harder."

Meanwhile, Alexa was currently on ITube. She uploaded a video of that amazing performer in New York Times Square.

"What'cha doing Alexa?" Hannah curiously peeked her head as she saw the video. "Ooohh are you uploading a video of your lovey?" With a teasing smile, Hannah asked.

"What! No! I'm just." Alexa paused as she glanced at the teasing smile plastered on Hannah's face. She sighed and tried to change the topic."Nevermind...by the way what happened to your date?"

"Uff...Don't get me started about that." Hannah laid down on her bed taking off her shirt. "Guys are hard to deal with!"

"Hey, I'm back," Jane smirked seeing Hannah's annoyed expression. "Well look who it is, isn't this the girl who said she can pull two guys at once?"

"Ugh! Shut up!" Hannah shouted annoyedly, she covered her face with a pillow in defeat.

While Jane raised a smile. "The date was fun, too bad though you weren't there. By the way what you got there?" Jane noticed a video on the computer screen.

"Well...I'm just uploading stuff." Alexa shyly said.

"Right," Jane replied.
