Something Private

Ford's POV:

"We'll take our leave now", they turned around to leave and I sat back on my desk. He was the last person who was walking out the door when he stopped to look back. I immediately lowered my gaze on the papers in front of me. Don't wanna be considered a creep, you know.

"Oh I'm sorry I almost forgot to ask something, before we leave." He said entering back into the lounge area of my office.

I looked up "What is it, Richards?"

"I can't help but notice that you have cameras set up all over this building, and very conveniently for us there are a few with almost all the angles near the exists of this building, I would like to have the footage of those from two nights ago, around the time you left for the club and onwards, until you left again for home or wherever else you went, after the meeting."

"You need my camera footage? I don't understand, am I a suspect now? I thought you already got the killer." I countered raising my right brow at his last request.

"Well everyone is a suspect until the case is solved and closed. Besides it's not like you did anything, right?" his gaze was kept constant on me, "So don't worry about it but if it makes you feel better I'll let you know, it's not really for you."

"If it's not for me then who do you expect to find in the footage of my building while it was closed? Jimmy Hoffa? I'll have you know already, I was not involved in his disappearance" I replied with an annoyed expression. I just felt like I need to resist a little before giving up something private like that, it only makes sense.

He chuckled. "Don't worry I'm not that big a conspiracy theorist to investigate someone who was probably a kid back when he disappeared. I only need to see the footage for Fredrick".

"Fredrick? Why? Don't tell me he's a suspect too. He was her fiancé, for fuck sakes, man!" I showed a mixture of annoyance as well as surprise.

You see I find it very useful to act surprised and unbelieving of such possibilities because when someone sees you bewildered over a possibility of a crime of betrayal or to put it in simple words; when someone's hurt by their own beloved, like a father killing his own child or a fiancé murdered brutally by their own soon to spouse; they immediately make up a image of you in their mind where they believe you to be the epitome of innocence since you can't even comprehend the prospect of these heinous crimes being committed.
