HIS HUNTRESS

In the mystical realm of Mt Logan, where ancient creatures find sanctuary, Cyrene, a skilled hunter born into a lineage sworn to preserve the fragile harmony between worlds, grapples with a profound revelation. Her world shatters when she discovers that her predestined soul mate is a werewolf – the very beings her family has relentlessly hunted for generations. As the age-old enmity between their clans heightens, a merciless, common enemy emerges, threatening the existence of the magical beings hidden within Mt Logan's heart. Faced with an imminent peril, Cyrene and her werewolf counterpart reluctantly form an alliance, driven by the strings of an enigmatic prophecy that holds the key to saving both their worlds. Amid the looming danger, secrets buried in the shadows begin to surface, and an unexpected connection blossoms between Cyrene and her lycanthropic counterpart. Caught in the crossfire of duty and desire, Cyrene finds herself torn between her ancestral obligations and the burgeoning love she shares with her supposed adversary. Each passing day tightens the bond between them, making the inevitable choice between loyalty and love even more agonizing. In a world where ancient prophecies entwine with forbidden passions, Cyrene and her werewolf soul mate navigate a treacherous path. As the prophecy unfolds, they must make choices that could reshape their destinies and alter the fate of the mystical beings they lead. Suspended between tradition and the magnetic pull of their hearts, will they succumb to the irresistible force of their connection, or will duty and loyalty prevail, consigning them to a future apart? The answer lies shrouded in the misty peaks of Mt Logan, where love and allegiance collide, and the echoes of a destiny yet to unfold linger in the enchanted air.

ARAWN CLAN

The situation that greeted her was more depressing than the thought of having a werewolf as a mate. Bodies were everywhere. Children were holding onto their parents' bodies as they cried for them to come back. Noel was trying to give orders to everyone to come together so they could think the way forward, but he looked like he was having a conversation with himself as no one was standing. Some people were badly wounded, and they were screaming in agony. Others were bleeding to death. There was smoke coming out from their homes, but no one seemed to notice as they were busy weeping over their dead loved ones and those who were lucky, they were helping the wounded get better. Iris walked to where Noel was.

"Where are my parents?" Iris asked Noel.

"I have been looking for them everywhere, but I can't find them not even their bodies which is a good sign because it means wherever they are they are not dead," Noel said as he tried to give hope to his leader and role model. Noel was a secret admirer of Iris.

"Since they are not here, we are going to be in charge so help me get everything in order. Get all men who can work to get one of the dorms that is in good condition. Then I will look for any of our nurses or doctors that are not hurt that can teach a few people to take care of those that are hurt." Iris said.

"Maybe we should call all that are in a stable condition to work so that we can see how many we have that way it will be easier to get things done when we see what we already have," Noel suggested. Iris agreed with her that it was a better idea. So, they walked around the place getting all the stable people that could work they also gathered the kids who were not hurt they wanted to get as much reinforcement as possible. By the time they finished, they had about thirty men twenty-six women, and fifteen kids who were stable to work. Iris also managed to get two doctors and five nurses. Seeing the team was big enough to start working with, they started dividing the duties to the people. The little girls were asked to follow the quarter of the women who were going to get the kitchen in order. Another quarter was sent to go get linens that were to be used in the dorms after half of the men had put everything in order. They would make sure that the bed was prepared so that the wounded people and the doctors would have a place to work. The doctors and nurses were training some of the men and women and even kids on how to do first aid to patients who were not very wounded. Everything was running smoothly men were trying to repair what could be repaired and getting the place in order as the women and the kids went around cleaning the rooms that could be used to host people. All the wounded were being carried to one of the trainee dorms that was prepared to be used as a health facility in the meantime. Those who were treated and dismissed joined the others in getting the place in order. Iris was walking around seeing what could be saved. They walked to where the weapons store was, but it was empty. The offices were turned upside down thing broken papers were everywhere. What used to be the clinic was looking like there had been a tornado in there but some of the things and machines could still be used. They took what could be used for the new clinic. On their way back that's when a little kid came running to where they were with her phone in her hand.

"Mommy has told me to bring you this." The kid said shying away as he handed Iris the phone. She thanked the kid and not bothering to look at the caller, answered the phone.

Iris: hello?

Darrell: I am alpha of the blood moon pack and am calling to tell you that we have your parent, and we want to meet with you so that we can make a deal about your parent.

Iris: And why should I trust you that you have my parent and that you have kept them alive till now?

Darrell: you should not trust me but it is upon you to decide what you want for them you can decide to stay there and wait till we send you their head or you can come and meet us so there may be a chance for you to save them.

Iris: why are we going to meet?

Darrell: Meet us at the nemeton that is on the Dead Valley at two this afternoon and do not be late. Before I forget don't dare try to sneak into our dungeon. Because if you do, I will find out and before you get the chance to lay your eyes on them, am going to capture you too, and make you watch as I kill them.

Iris did not answer him instead she hung up on him and smashed the phone to the wall of a building near them and it broke into pieces. She started kicking the wall with her legs. Noel saw that she was going to hurt herself and came from behind her snaked his arms around her waist and pulled her away from the wall. She turned around and buried his face into his broad chest making him become tensed. He hugged her close to his body as he enjoyed the feeling of her small warm and smooth body against his own, he did not want this moment to end. He rubbed circles on her back as he tried to soothe her. They had been friends since Iris was three years old when Noel's family moved from the Argentinian clan to theirs. He always stood up for her in school where she had been always bullied because of her small body. But after growing up with her and sharing almost everything including beds, he had developed feelings that were more than love for a sister. He started admiring her secretly he would hug them tighter than before, and he went after any male who tried to flirt with her. She was not aware of this because she did not have eyes for boys, and she had always thought that it was him trying to protect her like they normally do.

After she had calmed down and stopped crying, she moved from Noel's embrace walked to a tap, and splashed water on her face because it had become puffy from crying.

"Who was with you on the phone?" Noel asked wanting to know who had made her that sad because this was the first time, he had seen her cry even when she was bullied not once did, she ever shed a tear.

"Why does this have to happen to me? First, we are attacked, and my people are killed then whisked away by some witch telling me about some stupid prophecy as if that does not hurt enough, I came here only to find out that my parent is missing the freaking werewolf alpha calls me to tell me that he has them and he wants to strike a deal with me.

"What do you mean that you were whisked away by some witch? And we don't have to go meet the werewolves if you do not want to meet them, we can go ambush them and rescue them and if the damn alpha tries to stop us, we can just kill him." Noel said trying to encourage her.

"There are many reasons that we cannot just go attack them. The first one is that we don't have enough warriors to do that, and we can't afford to lose the ones we have because we don't know what they may have planned to do once we take all our soldiers to attack them. The other reason is about the prophecy.

"What about the prophecy?" Noel asked.

"I never left the way I was whisked away by a witch. She said that she was saving me from myself. She also talked about a prophecy. That there is doom that is going to strike the whole of the supernatural world and that we also do count as the supernatural."

"I did not know that. But some of our people that have been highly trained to be hunters." Noel wondered.

"That is not even the problem. We have to unite with the werewolves to defeat this doom that is coming also the witches have offered to help. That is not the only problem we have she also told me that Darrell is my mate." Iris said.

"How can that be possible? You are a huntress for pig's sake you can't be mated to a werewolf that's an abomination." Noel said angry he tried to hide his frustration because of the mate thing but he was unable. Iris not used to hearing him bust out like that looked at him amazed but continued with what she was saying before.

"As if making me his mate is not punishment enough, we were linked together so that if anyone between us dies the other one dies so if you kill him, you will be killing me too," Iris explained to Noel who was pacing around full of anger. Iris started wondering why he was acting that way, but she did not bother to ask him what was wrong with him she just shook her head.

"So go look for me a few soldiers so that we can go meet," Iris commanded him.

"You have got to be kidding me. I can't allow you to go to meet with Darrell who is supposed to be your mate you know how alphas are possessive about their mates who knows what he can do so that he can take you to be his mate we can't risk that." Noel said and this pissed off Iris.

"You have no right to tell me whether to go or not and I wonder why you are behaving like a possessive alpha all of a sudden. Those are the life of my parents that we are going to save so don't say that you won't let me go. Now go get the soldier before I become mad.' Iris said as she dismissed him angrily. She could not get what was wrong with him that he was behaving like that. After half an hour, he came back with five soldiers two females and three males. She ordered those of them who did not have their weapons to look into the things that were being collected. After everyone was prepared, they set out for the Dead Valley where they arrived shortly after two and they found the werewolves waiting for them.
