"Mr. Mayor, this is detective Roderick," the captain said, introducing the witted detective to the mayor.

"It's an honor to meet you, Mr. Mayor," Roderick said, shaking hands with Derek.

"Keep the honor aside, and let's face our task" he commented. To the captain he said.

"Can I see the footage please?"

"Yes you can"

He walked towards the precinct and everyone followed. Again, the narrow hallway smelt like detergent, reminding him of his troubles. The stress as the acting mayor. The boards of directors turned tables in his company. The money-sucking CFO, and all others.

Soon, they reached the investigation room.

"Close the door behind you," captain Will said.

"You don't need to remind me"

The television was powered on by the remote that the captain held. It showed the jeep parking abruptly right before it hits the car.

The police car opens. Moments passed, no one surfaced from the car. A man whom they recognized as Mayor Stanley came out from his Jeep, and his posture made the impression that he was ready to fight. Immediately, he dropped dead.

"Hold on, zoom and enhance" Derek said. It was of no use because the camera quality was poor. Nothing seemed to happen again, except the screaming of a woman. Probably Mrs Stanley.

Derek closed his eye in frustration, as he knew that this would lead to no where. He had a feeling, that this; was more than an assassination. This was his guilt.

...

Bay City General Hospital

Roderick the new detective on field, was determined to get to the root of the matter. He looked at his old watch, and that gave him a special feeling. Like how a predator feels when the prey was near.

Of course, the assassin left no clue, as no trace of varying DNA, or fingerprints could be found on the blades. But, as far as Mrs Stanley was alive, at least, he could get a lead from her.

"I'm sorry, you're not allowed here" the security official said. He had no problem with that. After all, they were doing their jobs.

He brought his badge and showed the official.

"On the order of the mayor, I'm here for investigation"

He was let in. They directed him to the ward where Mrs Stanley lay unconscious.

He was shocked. The assassin must be heartless. Her legs were padded with foam embedded in iron coverings. Her face, an expression of sorrow, though she was in a deep sleep.

"When would she be awake?" he asked the nurse besides him.

" Any moment from now"

" I'll wait then "

....

The van sped as it drove on the lonely road. It was senator Moses and his family.

He had been out of town on a vacation, so he wasn't aware of the recent happenings.

"From the GPS, there's a fuel station at the end of the express" his wife said.

" We better hope they accept cards because I don't have any cash on me" he explained.

"Don't worry"

His son, Nicolas was busy with his tablet, playing an online game.

He thought the express had no speed limits, so he decided to go at full speed.

That moment was short-lived though. A police car was parked right before them, and a cop stood there.

"You won't be speeding for a while now" Winnie humored, and he couldn't help but laugh.

"Your papers" his calm voice ordered.

He reached out to the glove compartment and brought out the needed papers.

"You know, I've been out of town for a while, so keeping the speed limits is kind of boring"

He smiled, as if to reassure Moses.

Instead of reading the papers, he tore it to pieces, as if it was a piece of trash.

"Hey how dare you?!"
