"Are you sure you want to work for me or this is one of your plans to shift our minds away from you?" Miguel asked. He took the pen and wrote her name on an empty sheet. He knew de la Cosa's witch had a plan B.
If there was anything he had come to understand- she was never tried of playing tricks to make them show her mercy.
"I mean it, this time," Isabella shifted to the edge of the seat. She squeezed her eyes and wished for tears to come. It would be enough to convince this man. "I want to work and pay off the debts... also save my siblings from your clutches."
He stared at her for sometime in disbelief. When the door opened, a young lady walked into the room with a tray. She apologized immediately when she saw Isabella.
"Its okay, Linda," Miguel told her. He asked her sit as well. Her presence was important.
"So what is my mission like?" Isabella asked after she was done signing an oath of silence. She drank only little from her cup.
"Simple but difficult," Miguel informed her. He was sure that she was not going to like the idea. But who cares about her opinion right now?
Isabella nodded. A work at a casino was going to be difficult for her. She wondered which section he was going to drop her at.
Being a waitress might seemed too tiring and exposed but it's was better than working at the strippers' club, which Miguel would gladly throw her into.
"I have never work at a casino before, Mi…" she did not finish her sentence. Linda interrupted.
"It's Capone here" She corrected with a frown on her face. Isabella never care to look at her face until now. She looked like a no- nonsense lady. Her thin brows made her look less human.
"Thanks for the correction, Linda," Isabella said. She turned to Miguel and asked "So what? Which section should I work at? Or the boss said nothing about it."
"Of course, he did but he never mentioned the casino," Miguel scratched his chin a bit and looked at the horror on her face. It's was normal to see girls that way but this was the first he saw De la Cosa's witch that way.
Isabella's heart skipped. She did not understand what Miguel meant by there was no talk about her working at the casino. Maybe they preferred her working at the hotel.
Yes, the hotel. What was she thinking?
"The hotel?" she asked with a faked smile.
"Oh no…" Linda shook her head. "You should keep quiet and listen carefully."
Miguel adjusted in his seat. He was not relaxed like before "You won't work at the hotel, Cosa. The boss has a special mission for you."
She was not comfortable with the ways things were going. However, she paid attention to his speech.
"You are going to work as an undercover soldier in the family.
By family, she understood what he meant. The boss was now like a father to her and each Mafiso under him, was her siblings.
Isabella looked behind her to see if he was referring to someone else. She was not going on any stupid mission to appease them.
"As what?" She asked. Why would they send her out of the casino or hotel to work? This was her first time to work for a Mafia.
"A spy…or better still a caretaker," he paused when he saw the confusion on her face. She must be going through a lot right now. "You don't have to be scared, love. We will take care of you."
"Huh?" it was the only sound she could make at this point. Was this a joke? Being a spy was one of the most dangerous role to play. It was like living a lie…pretending to be what you are not, to a set of people. How was she going to start? Who was she going to spy on?
Isabella had so many questions running back and forth in her mind. She shifted to the edge of the seat and scratched the back of her hair "Is there no second option?"
Miguel shook his head. There was none. The boss assign role to each member. He specifically chose this for her.
"It was decided that you become a spy," Linda spoke instead. She stood up from the chair and walked around. "You have exactly what we need. I think I should begin my work."
"Yes, you can go ahead," Miguel gave permission.
Isabella was still trying to digest everything. Working as a spy was like dividing her life to two. She had siblings to take care of and she was not going to abandon them "So who are we spying on? Or better still who is my new boss?"
Linda could not answer. She rushed to where Miguel was and stood beside his seat.
"W-well… About that…," Miguel stammered. He was afraid to tell who it was. But nobody was begging her to do it. It was an order from the boss. "Your new mission is to spy on the famous billionaire and underworld godfather, Don Nicholas GENOVESE.
The expression on Isabella's face said it all. Cold shiver skittered through her spine. The men who came that night were from the GENOVESE family. How was she going to work for them after knowing the fact that they killed…no butchered her parents right in front of her.
Working for Don Nicholas was over her dead body!
Family in the mafia world means the entire gang members.
Creation is hard, cheer me up!
