Chapter 121 - Sona's Favor
"It really was a great Rating Game. I bet this showdown is going to go down in history."
In the student council room, Sona sighed as she watched the Rating Game that had just ended.
This was the first time a human had fought in a Rating Game, and not just any human—it was the current Red Dragon Emperor.
The participants and the outcome had shocked everyone.
It could only be called an unexpected turnaround.
For a lot of the spectators, it definitely left a big impression.
Even a hundred years from now, people would probably still talk about it.
"Sona, I'm heading out. Mahiro-kun should be back by now," Rias said, standing up with a smile.
"Rias, let me come with you. I need to thank Mahiro for giving me the chance to broadcast this Rating Game. With this experience, things are going to get a lot easier for me."
Sona got up as well.
The importance of this Rating Game had exceeded her expectations.
Being the broadcaster meant her name would be part of the record.
For a high-class devil, having this on her name would make her future path much smoother.
And she had Mahiro to thank for that, so it made sense to show her appreciation.
"Sure," Rias nodded.
The group made their way back to the ORC.
Meanwhile, in the Underworld, at Lilith…
"I didn't expect Mahiro to be the Red Dragon Emperor..." Sirzechs said, looking conflicted. He was caught off guard by the reveal and couldn't help but admire his sister's sharp instincts.
"This is going to be a headache," he muttered.
"But you don't seem too worried," Grayfia said, standing in the office with a knowing smile after returning from the Human World.
"If I had known Mahiro was the Red Dragon Emperor, I would've dismissed those old devils and settled this quietly," Sirzechs explained.
Not long ago, Mahiro had interfered with the arranged marriage between Riser and Rias, wrecking the engagement and embarrassing the Phenex Clan.
Because of that, the Phenex Clan wanted to settle the score with Mahiro in a Rating Game, broadcasting it to the Underworld to restore their pride and show off their strength.
Their request was reasonable, so it was approved.
But no one expected that the Red Dragon Emperor's identity would be revealed during the duel.
"You're saying..." Grayfia paused before continuing, "The White Dragon Emperor?"
"Exactly," Sirzechs nodded. "Now that the Red Dragon Emperor has shown up, the White Dragon Emperor won't be far behind. They're eternal rivals, so it's only a matter of time before he appears."
The Boosted Gear and Divine Dividing are Longinus that always show up in every generation.
When one appears, the other isn't far behind—it's just inevitable.
And strong people attract other strong people, so not only could the White Dragon Emperor appear, but other powerful figures might start showing up too.
"If the Red Dragon Emperor and White Dragon Emperor clash, it'll be bad for us," Sirzechs said, his voice more serious.
It showed just how dangerous the Two Heavenly Dragons could be.
"On the bright side, having the Red Dragon Emperor on our side should make things easier, right?" Grayfia said thoughtfully.
Sirzechs smiled and nodded before asking, "What's the status with the Angels and Fallen Angels?"
"Michael and Azazel are interested in your proposal. They're hoping to meet soon," Grayfia replied.
"Then I'll have to get ready," Sirzechs mused.
Back at Kuoh Academy, in the ORC...
When Mahiro returned, Rias and the others welcomed him like a hero after a big victory.
Once things calmed down, Sona looked at Mahiro with mixed feelings.
"I didn't expect you to hide your identity so well, Red Dragon Emperor."
"You're giving me too much credit. Red Dragon Emperor? Just call me Mahiro, like always," Mahiro smiled.
"Alright, Mahiro. But in return, stop calling me President—just Sona, like Rias does," Sona smiled back.
"Deal," Mahiro agreed.
Then, he noticed a sour look aimed his way.
He didn't have to guess who it was.
Saji.
Standing with the other student council members, Saji glared at Mahiro with envy, his face clearly frustrated.
Being able to call Sona by name was something Saji had never been allowed to do, and he deeply resented it.
Not only had Mahiro earned Sona's favor, but now he was getting special treatment, which only fueled Saji's jealousy.
Still, Saji didn't dare say anything, especially after Mahiro had beaten him so easily and shown how strong he was during the duel.
All Saji could do was sulk in the corner with his frustration and envy.
"I'm heading out now," Sona said, turning to Rias. "Oh, and congrats, Rias—not only did you break off your engagement with Riser, but you also found someone you really love."
"Thanks, Sona," Rias smiled brightly.
"And Mahiro, thanks for all your help today," Sona added. "If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to ask."
"Really? Anything?" Mahiro teased, wondering if the usually serious Sona would actually agree.
"Anything within my power," Sona nodded. "If it's beyond what I can do, I can't promise, but I'll do my best."
"I'll hold you to that. I won't hesitate to ask if I need something," Mahiro grinned.
With that, Sona left with her peerage.
"It's finally over. Time for a break," Mahiro stretched as the crowd began to disperse.
"It's not over yet, Mahiro-kun," Akeno grinned mischievously, a dangerous look in her eyes.
