It was a nice Sunday morning the weather was neither too hot nor too cold. Hayden sat on the sofa in his living room. The living room had some artefacts places at the side of the 56 inches flat-screen Tv hung on the wall. The marble tiles were white with a black design which sharply contrasted the black sofa. The curtains were also black. He had a thing for black. He had just finished his routine weekend cleaning and washing. He made plans to iron his clothes later in the evening. He knew the dead dogs might raise dust but he didn't expect that to happen this fast. He picked up his remote control and scrolled down the TV channels the news at 10:00 am caught his attention.
" Several reports have been going on over the city of missing dogs. Owners of these pets have assumed they strayed but what is quite alarming is the number of reported cases of these missing dogs. The sheriff has been quick to shove it aside as unimportant but a female reporter strongly believes this is no coincidence and she is very determined to make sure she gets to the bottom of this. On the other news the reports of the economy..." The voice of the newscaster faded into thin air as Hayden quietly whispered "Lin Jane".
Hayden got off the sofa. He was never a religious person. He had believed that God didn't care about him and that he hated him. hence, going to church that Sunday was out of the picture. He decided to take a shower. "Perhaps a good stroll around and possibly a walk to the grocery store would be nice," he thought to himself.
Hayden quickly climbed the stairs and went straight to his bathroom to take a shower. He had been living in that three-bedroom duplex for some time. He felt quite comfortable carrying out his activities there.
He slipped into a black vest which was slightly oversized and black joggers which was a perfect fit. He brushed his short black hair and full brows. He looked at the mirror to confirm he was looking like his handsome self before dashing out of the house. He grabbed his car keys which also contained keys to his apartment from the centre table in the living room and drove off. He knew every nuke and cranny in Cliff close where he lived. He devised new ways to go round or get things done without being noticed. He was very observant and knew the routine of most of his neighbours.
He wasn't known by most people which was something he made sure of after being in Cliff for over 2 years.
He took a right turn to Orland Street where the big shopping mall owned by Davies corporation was.

Chloe Sat in a small area in her room. She had carved up as a mini library staring at her computer, trying to get around the case she was given. "Missing dogs" she mumbled in a low tone.
"If you keep staring at that laptop you're going to bore a hole right through it. " Mara said in a sarcastic way entering Chloe's room.
Chloe chuckled slightly. "Hey girl"
"Didn't see you come in."
Of course, you didn't. You were quite busy talking to yourself and looking through your laptop's soul. Chole gave good laugh. it was always a delight to have her best friend around.
Mara was the funny one. She had been friends with Chloe for almost 7 years they were like sisters. After the death of her parents. She had found another family in Mara's which she was forever grated to God. They had been classmates in the same high school and went to college together. Only that Mara decided to study law and Chloe, Criminology. Which was usually a weird choice. But to her, it wasn't about what she wanted. It was more about carrying her father's legacy. She wasn't going to let him down dead or alive.
Mara Davies was from a rich and influential family, but she wasn't a show-off. It'd be difficult to know from afar that she was a major shareholder of her father's company. She had rejected the role of CEO which her father wasn't so pleased with, but this was Mara, doing whatever she felt like doing when she felt like doing it.
"Okay tell me about your case."
"You must have heard about the reports of missing dogs around the area."
"Oh yeah...saw that in news this morning."
"There is a female reporter who feels it's not a coincidence."
" Ermmm Yeah."
She dragged her response for a while trying to remember her name
Lin Jane?"
"Yes" Chloe responded firmly
"Why do you care so much about what one reporter says for all we know she could be wrong. Possibly making a big deal out of nothing" Mara said in a casual tone.
"That's the point!! This reporter has proven herself time and again.
She is quite good at her job. She has given more criminal leads to the force than any other reporter. Hence, we just can't ignore this. It could be a part of some big plan that could threaten national security" Chloe explained with a serious look on her face
"Hmmm tough one eh"
"Yeah. Hopefully, we'll get more leads tomorrow."
"Okay time for breakfast, Breakfast is the most important meal...."
"...of the day" Chloe completed Mara's sentence.
"Alright I'm up already," she said as she lazily got off the chair.
She walked down to the dining table mara had cooked and dishes out the find on a plate.
she could perceive the delightful aroma that oozed out of the side of the dish plate.
you're the best she gave Mara a tight hug as they sat down to eat the meal.
"This looks scrumptious and I'm sure it tastes as good as it looks" Chloe commended
as they both sat down to eat.
"thank you" Mara smiled slightly
"Chloe?" Mara called while they were eating
"Yeah", Chloe answered with a mouth filled with spaghetti
"Are you seeing anyone now?"
