A thousand people, a thousand faces. As the Herrscher of Thousands, Ren would sometimes be affected by his puppets, especially now that he had obtained dozens of them at once. Their intense emotions would feed back to Ren, making him very empathetic.
When facing Rozaliya, he could clearly sense the unease hidden deep within her heart. This power wasn't inherently good or bad.
As the Herrscher who had the most precise control over emotions, Ren could have used this unease to amplify the darkness within her, and ultimately destroy her completely.
However, Ren wasn't purely malicious. Moving against a little girl was meaningless to him, and so he had chosen a more gentle method.
"Oh well, it's not important anyway. Even without the twins, there are countless ways to infiltrate the Sea of Quanta headquarters. I… It's not like it's because the little girl called me cool or anything."
His consciousness was submerged in darkness. And in another area of the Sea of Quanta, Moth of Ink's dark red eyes slowly opened.
While Ren had been focusing on ARC City, Moth of Ink had also done quite a few things for World Serpent, increasing his presence among the cadres. Unlike other infiltrators who simply wanted to cause chaos, Moth of Ink was wholeheartedly dedicated to World Serpent.
To be fair, although Kevin's methods were extreme, his resolve to fight against the Honkai was the strongest. And the Stigmata Project was also the most effective method to fight against Honkai.
The progress on Anti-Entropy's Moonlight Throne Project was slow. It was uncertain if they would be able to complete it before the Finality arrived.
As for Schicksal, Otto didn't even consider any salvation plans. His objective was only Kallen. As long as he was able to save Kallen before the Finality, then he would be satisfied.
But, without him maintaining the world's stability for 500 years, allowing countless ordinary people to have a relatively peaceful living environment, then the world at this time would probably be far worse.
And so, Moth of Ink's fanatical attitude within World Serpent wasn't just to avoid being noticed by Kevin. Ren himself also recognized his resolve.
"Since you want to save the world, then I'll help you. Whether or not it succeeds will depend on your own abilities." It was just like playing a single-player strategy game. Seeing that the AI was at a disadvantage, he would intentionally send them a little bit of resources, while secretly increasing his own population by 99. As for whether the outcome was victory or defeat, he didn't really care.
As long as the process was interesting, then that was enough.
"Anyway, even if the sky does fall, there's still the Finality to support it. I'm just a weak, pitiful, and helpless Herrscher of Thousands. No matter how they fight, it doesn't have anything to do with me."
Just as he thought this, the threads he had left on Cocolia when they had been talking seemed to have been triggered. Ren looked at the central area of the Sea of Quanta, and smiled.
Now I have the coordinates.
In the Sea of Quanta, Theresa, having just finished her heartfelt conversation with Bronya, returned to the twins' living quarters. And Einstein was fiercely arguing with Cocolia. It seemed she had already noticed that Cocolia was colluding with another force, and had decided to infiltrate the central area again to investigate.
After it had gotten later, Einstein had begun her actions. She followed the traces Cocolia had left behind, and infiltrated the central area. However, she didn't notice that behind her, another figure had also been approaching.
"The Gem of Desire has fallen into the Sea of Quanta. There should be records of its lost coordinates, but the information has been intentionally blocked… Not good, Cocolia's hiding something from us. I have to contact Theresa immediately." After a simple investigation, Einstein immediately discovered that the data here had been tampered with. But before she could finish speaking, her body suddenly froze. She had heard footsteps that shouldn't have been there.
The sounds were very close, so close that she would probably be killed by the other party in the next second.
"Dr. Einstein, caution is an invaluable quality for scientists, but sometimes, excessive suspicion will place you in danger."
A strange male voice sounded. Einstein abruptly turned around, but only saw a pair of dark red eyes.
Thump.
A muffled sound echoed. Einstein was directly knocked unconscious by Ren. And, he also injected her with a tranquilizer, just in case. Gray Serpent didn't know about this yet. Taking this opportunity, Ren directly hacked into the Sea of Quanta's operating system.
Thanks to Glenn's excellent programming skills, amplified by the Herrscher of Thousands's core, he could also use that knowledge for hacking.
As soon as he had hacked in, he discovered the AI in the operating system. Ren cut off its connection to the main system, attempting to take it for himself. Unfortunately, after testing it a little, he had discovered that the performance of the Sea of Quanta AI was rather disappointing. It wasn't even as good as the little girl Humanoid Machine.
The system information had been encrypted by Cocolia, but Ren's objective was only the Gem of Desire, and so he quickly found what he was looking for without wasting too much energy.
The coordinates of the Sea of Quanta weren't a secret. The difficulty was how to bypass so many World Bubbles.
While he hadn't been discovered yet, Ren took some of Cocolia's research data, including some mecha designs.
He had previously mentioned wanting to steal some Anti-Entropy mechas. It was now time to deliver on his promise. Unfortunately, the latest models were with Tesla. These outdated models were better than nothing.
After completing his work, Ren's gaze turned to Einstein. He really wanted to take this genius scientist, but given the current situation, it wasn't realistic.
It wasn't possible for him to turn her into a puppet. Scientific research required genius-level thinking. If she were to become a puppet, then she would, at best, be a tool. Without her groundbreaking thoughts, it would be meaningless.
"Oh well, I'll just leave her alone for now."
After locking Einstein up in a room, Ren left the central area. Gray Serpent would be activating the Sea of Quanta's eye soon. He had to quickly take this opportunity, and enter it.
Early next morning, Theresa discovered Einstein's disappearance, and quickly gathered everyone to search for her. And, because they were children, the twins were left behind.
In their room, Rozaliya was showing her sister the performance she had learned yesterday. As expected, it had evoked gasps of surprise from Liliya. The proud Rozaliya had originally wanted to show off to Bronya as well, but Bronya had already left early in the morning.
"So cool! But, where did you learn these moves? I don't think you have the brains to come up with such cool moves." Liliya understood her sister very well. The two were almost inseparable. For Rozaliya to have learned new moves in just one night made her incredibly suspicious.
"Uh, well…" The exposed Rozaliya's eyes darted back and forth, wanting to find an excuse. She still remembered the seashell monster had said that if his existence was exposed, it would attract a lot of Honkai beasts.
Looking at her sister's easily readable expression, Liliya sighed helplessly. She suddenly approached Rozaliya and sniffed at her. "There's a strange smell."
Before Rozaliya could react, she took the seashell that had been hidden in her skirt pocket.
"You didn't have this seashell before." Liliya said as she tapped the surface of the seashell. Just then, the seashell began to faintly glow.
Seeing that, Rozaliya's expression changed drastically. She immediately pounced on Liliya to get the seashell back, but she had moved too much. After tackling Liliya to the ground, the seashell had flown out of Liliya's hand.
And just then, the entire Sea of Quanta began to tremble. Rozaliya's face turned pale, and she hugged Liliya tightly.
"We're doomed! I've messed up!"
