A tear in the flesh
Jace looked at the number for a long time before calling it. The clock above his head read exactly two in the morning. He wondered how long he had been staring at his phone.
Hearing the ringing on the other end, his heart reacted. It has been a long time since the last time he heard her voice. The woman he failed to protect despite the promise he made.
On the other side of the city, Levi woke up from the constant ringing of a phone. Arya was fast asleep. He stood up and retrieved her phone only to see a name he didn't know existed in her contact list.
" Love?" Since he wasn't the one calling, did that mean that she had someone else? Could it be her fiance? Was she in touch with him all this while?
Several possibilities went through his mind but he couldn't conclude. He doubted himself for the first time in years.
His gaze fell on the sleeping girl and decided to wake her up. For all he knows, it might be family and there could be an emergency.
