When The Pillars Crumbles

Liam watched helplessly as the police removed Adele's body from the crushed car. He stared blankly as the officers took the statements of the lorry driver and his passenger.

"Sir, sir," the officers called him, but he stared at them blankly. He couldn't bring himself to do anything. He felt numb from his pain when he saw the body being put in a black bag.

The officers helped him into their car, and while Adele's body was dropped in the morgue, Liam was taken to the hospital.

"It's a state of shock. It takes time for him to get out of it," the doctors had told the officers.

"No!" Mia shouted, bringing back Liam to the present. "I'm trying, dad. I have tried to get over that night, but it's been almost impossible. I dream that mom will come back with my cake in her hands one day, and you're about to shatter those dreams by getting remarried." Mia said in quick succession, in a voice that had become hoarse because of lots of crying.
