Here We Go Again

When they were done, they lay beside each other, each lost in their own thoughts.

Arnold gave Val a forehead kiss, got down from beside her, and found his way to the bathroom, where he freshened up.

When he got back to Val, he found she had dressed up and was sited, holding her knees near her chest. She had a distant look on her face, and she was also sniffling softly, making her look so vulnerable.

'What happened in a short while I was away? Wasn't it fun and thrilling for us both? Maybe she is regretting it.' Arnold thought to himself as he looked on in confusion.

He walked and sat next to her and asked in a shaky voice, "Hey…. What's wrong? Are you okay? I mean, are you regretting it?"

Val shook her head violently but did not utter a word.

"I… don't…know what this means for us," she managed to say between hiccups, and Arnold turned away, cleared his throat, then asked, "What do you want it to mean?"
