Her Dumb Honour

Innocent, pretty, kind, and compassionate were the fitting descriptions for Karen Barger. She had been living her perfect life until it had begun to crumble at a time she least expected it. To seek comfort, she returns to Atlanta, her home, and unbeknownst to her, another piece of her world crumbles in New York. Along with her two friends in Atlanta, Karen’s life will be on a roller coaster, and she will experience raw, vulnerable, and intense emotions like never before. Determined to honour the vows of her closest people, Karen will go to the extreme ends to ensure they are happy. However, one by one, dark, buried secrets will be out in the open, leaving Karen over in the head after the realization that those she sacrificed everything for were not worth the efforts. Will she rise beyond the spiral of betrayals and vengeance, or will she succumb to them?

Confrontations

"He is gone?" Angie asked in disbelief.

"I'm so sorry," Bill said.

"He can't be," Angie went on. "He said he wanted to rest for a while. He is sleeping, he isn't dead."

"Miss, we have tried looking for a pulse, but we couldn't find any. I'm so sorry about this," Bill said as he excused himself.

Alice and Gabriel were too shocked to say anything, and Gabriel wordlessly followed Bill to his office.

"My condolences," Bill said.

"Thank you. This is where I say thank you for caring for him," Gabriel said. His eyes were red from crying.

"I bet so," Bill answered and kept quiet. The two sat there, looking at each other, not knowing what the other was thinking, until Gabriel broke the silence.

"The pain is too much to bear, you know. I have lost two of the most important people in my life in a span of a week," he said.

Bill knew of his dad only and silently wondered who the other person was.
